in the Park and Recreation De
partment's summer basketball
program held at Pelican Court
Monday night. In the first game,
Merrill edged Klamath Union,
51-47. while in the second contest,
the KU squad came back to hand
the Merrill crew a 51-30 defeat.
Bruce Brickner led Merrill with
16 points in the first contest and
12 in the second while Paul Bishop
paced MI with IS counters in the
first game and 17 in the second.
The summer program, which is
in its second week, will continue
through Judy .11 with workouts be
ing held nightly Monday through
Friday.

Falls fans Saturday nisht in Gem
Stadium.
At 6:30 the Klamath Rasinettes.
of the Women's Softball Associa
tion, will square off against the
Elbo Benders of the Men's Soft
ball Association. The game, a re
match, will see the two teams
swap pitchers and catchers as
they have in the past.
Following the seven inning soft
hall exhibition, at 8:30 the Klam
ath Kubs, Klamath Falls entrant
in the Northern California semi
pro league, will make their tirst
night home appearance when they
host Merrill of the Klamath Basin
Independent League. The baseball
game is slated for a regulation
nine innings.
All proceeds from the show, ad
mission is 75 cents for adults
and 25 cents for youngsters, are
to be divided between the Kubs
and the Basinet tes, both teams
which are entirely self-supporting.
The opener finds the Klbo Bend
ers seeking to collect another vic
tory over the talented ladies group,
having been a narrow 13-12 victor
over the Basinettes last Saturday
night in Gem. The batteries for the
two clubs, pitcher Joy Adreon and
catcher Theresa Wickline of the
io Basinettes and the Klbo Benders'
pitcher Cliff Stemlcr and catcher
Ken Carrier will trade loyalties
for the night, each pair to work
for the opponents.
Karning the mound assignment
for the powerful Kub squad will
be newcomer Ed Vegley, the tal
ented righthander, who will make
his first start in a Kub suit. The
pitcher for the Merrill nine wasi
unavailable at press time. !
Kub manager Irv Whitt is plan
ning to switch Dean Dunson to
third base for a trial and fill in
with Bob Janes at first. Young .
John Bianchi will cover right'
field for regular Rube Johnson for
the game.
