Photo by' Ellis Party Honors Malin Girls MALIN On that Important date In every young girl's life, her 16th birthday, Mary Jayne risk and Marcia Kenyrci were honored at a party held Saturday 'night. No vember 30, in the Malin Commu nity Hall. Both girls are popular members of the sophomore class at Malin Hign School and are two of the school's yell leaders. Theme of the party planned by the girls' mothers was "Melody Lane" with large black musical notes decorating the walls. The beautifully decorated birthday cakes were centers of Interest on the refreshment table covered with a pi'.ik clolh. In the center of 'the table were the names of the guests of honor in black letters surround ert by musical notes. The girls' younger sisters, Cathy Fisk and Cathy Kenyon helped with the decorations. The 60 guests enjoyed dancing and games. Chaperons for the fun occasion were Mi. and Mrs. Wayne Fisk and Mr. and Mrs. Elmont Kenyon. Refreshments of punch and cake were served. BETA SIGMA PHI. KAPPA CHAPTER Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met December 16 at the home of Carol Creswell. Steve Teteis, hair stylist, was the guest speaker for the evening. His topic was "Her Crowning Glory." Shirlee Laver served as his model. Following the business meelng. presided over by the vice presi dent, Brownie Bramwell, there were games and a gift exchange. Santa Clans appeared at the dinner's close with gifts for the children present. Sojourners Club Christmas Parry Sixty members and guests of Sojourners Club attended the an nual Christmas party at the Wil lard Hotel on Wednesday, Decem ber 10. Mrs. Wayne Horton, Mrs. G. L. Crowe; and Mrs. Hal Rotrock, host esses lor the afternoon, greeted arrivals into the beautifully decor ated dining room. Candlelight ac cented the table decorations which were most unique. Mrs. A. V. Mc Vey, decorations chairman, with the assistance of her committee members made centerpieces of silver-sprayed twigs from which hung colorful ornaments. The orna ments were brightly enameled egg shells trimmed with bits of glit ter, lace, braid and ricrac. Insert ed in the center of each shell was a cutout motif from Christ mas cards. Sprays of silvered ev ergreens with little angel figures and candles were arranged the full length of the long tables. Fav ors of perfume were at each place, compliments of local concerns. A social half hour preceded luncheon at which the Willard Ho tel management was host. Installation of officers for the next six mbnths followed lunch eon. Mrs. George Ashbaugh served as installing officer while the re tiring officers pinned corsages on respective new officers as they were recognized. These new offi cers are Mrs. Vernon Neet, presi dent; Mrs. Dick Bowers, vice pres ident; Mrs. Robert Comstock, treasurer; and Mrs. Robert Scott, secretary. Mrs. Robert Wright, retiring president, was presented two at tractive metal trays by Mrs. Neet in appreciation of the former's leadership of the club these past six months. A review of the last six months' activities of the club was cleverly compiled in the form of a series of personal letters to an anony mous friend by Mrs. Harrj Mauch. Mrs. Neet, after announcing tht new appointments to the board, declared the meeting adjourned. Mrs. Otto Biber-, party chairman, introduced the afternoon's program with the entrance of Santa Claus. Following the customary gift ex change, Mr. "Stone from Fremont School, presented a program of Christmas music. Among the selec tions rendered by the 17 girl Fre mont ensemble were: "What Child Is This?" from "Green Sleeves," "Evening Prayer" from "Hansel and Gretel," an old Rus sian carol Hark, The Vesper Hymn Is Stealing," and an old French Carol, LeRoy Anderson's arrangement of "Sleigh Ride" con cluded the program. Linda Han ville and Janis La Grande were the piano accompanists for the en semble, In addition to Mrs. Otto Biber, the committee on party arrange ments was composed of Mrs. George Callison, Mrs. Hal Rotrock, Mrs. G. L. Crowe, Mrs. Robert Cuendet, and Mrs. A. V. McVey. First time guests were Mrs. Lor raine Wilson, Mrs. Mara Maloney, and Mrs. Rosemary Moon. Those who were in attendance for the second time were Mrs. Estelle Lunde, Mrs. Bonnie Lane, and Mrs. Kathleen Vergeer. Mrs. Rosa lie Baughm was welcomed as a new member of Sojourners while Mrs. Miriam Lloyd, Mrs. Ruth K. Ray, and Mrs. Shonebamber were guests of the day. PINOCHLE BONANZA - Mrs. Bob Schmor entertained at her home in Bo nanza on the evening of Decem ber" 17, with a pinochle party. High prize for the evening went to Mrs, Roy Fernlund, second high to Mrs, Homer Dixon and Mrs. Jess Mc Fall won the traveling prize. Carolyn dlake d3ride 3n Ci Carolyn Lake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dillis O. Ellison of Cres cent Lake, became the bride of Juddy Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Judson D. Brown, Route 3, in a recent ceremony performed by the Rev. Charles W. Myers in the Jmmanuel Baptist Church. The bride wore a gown of white net over silk with scalloped lace outlining the neckline and the full floor length skirt. A pearl and equm tiara held a veil of illu sion. the . wore elbow length mitts and carried white roses and carnations on a white Bible. Pamela Fletcher, maid of hon or, wore a full skirted blue frock and carried pink rosebuds. A sim ilar style in pink was worn by the bridesmaid, Mary Evins, who also carried pink rosebuds. Candlelighters were Georgia Brown and David Larkey, niece and nephew of the bride. Kenneth Brown was best man for his brother. Ushers were Jack Burnett, Dee Valentine and Dale Spencer. Ann Rexford was soloist accom panied at the organ by Mrs. Charles Mvers. Mrs. Ellison chose a pink lace dress for her daughter's wedding. Mrs. Brown wore a black knit suit and pink hat. Both mothers wore corsages of pink rosebuds. Ferns and- chrysanthemums en circled the base of the pink and white three tiered wedding cake cut by the couple at the reception held in the ohurch parlors. The cake was served by Mrs. Ann Rex ford. Mrs. E. V. Zell poured cof fee and Mrs. Clara Benson served the punch. The bride attended schools in Gilchrist and was active in 4-H and Girl Scout groups.
