one that has been thinned out. The top picrure shows an area after the trees hare been
thinned to six foot centers. The lower picture shows an area just across the road
where no thinning has as yet been done. These pictures were also taken on the Ken
Dell Christmas tree ranch out of Tennant in Northern California.

EVEN THE SMALLEST TREES are utilized on the Ken-Dell
Christmas tree operation at Tennant. Here one of the
many women workers trims up a foot-high tree which will
be shipped out as a table decoration for some city dweller
in San Francisco or Oakland.

A POWER SAW is used to cut the butts off a bundle of
small Christmas trees prior to shipment. This picture wa
taken on the Ken-Dell operation near Tennant and shows a
bucker just about to square off the butts with a power taw.
