Qve Her Leisure -And She'll Slave Time to Qve to Family
Your Gift
Benefits
Everyone
Hnw big a package does leisure
time come in?
And where can you buy it?
There s not a husband alive
who wouldn't like the answers to
those questions for leisure time
Is obviously the best gift he could
possibly give his wife for Christ
mas. Actually, the answers are sur
prisingly simple. That's because
today s labor - saving appliances
are also time-savers. Thus, the
lucky lady who receiveds a major
appliance from her family as a
Christmas present is getting more
than simply a machine which will
niake her work easier she is
in effect, receiving a "packase'
of leisure time. These extra mo
ments will come to her every day
of the year, and they are hers
to do with just as she wants,
Family Reaps Benefits
No husband will be surprised, of
course, if his wife devotes most
of those new found leisure mo
ments to the family as well as
herself. That's one beauty of an
appliance as a Christmas present
the family reaps the indirect
benefit even as mother herself
gets the real use out of it.
The woman who owns a mod
ern home freezer, for example,
will find that precious moments
just before meal time can now be
spent with her family and guests.
Delicacies prepared long in ad
vance merely have to be re
moved from the freezer and
popped in the oven. And if she
owns a modern range with the
latest in automatic controls, she'll
have just that much more time
in which to relax before the meal
is ready for the table.
Or, if the Christmas gift comes
In the form of a dishwasher, the
family will be able to relax to
gether after the meal while the
machine takes over the clean-up
chore which once made mother an
exile in the kitchen.
Saves Shopping Time
Meal times, however, are not
the only hours of the day from
which extra leisure moments can
be extracted by modern applia
ances. A big, spacious refriger
ator, for example, eliminates the
need for repeated, time-consum
ing trips to the store. Shopping
once a week is enough, for the
wife with a modern refrigerator
and home freezer really has a
supermarket in her own home.
Washday, too, can be changed
from an exhausting and time con
suming interval to an effortless
interlude during which the house
wife need do little more than set
dials and push buttons.
The lucky lady who receives a
dishwasher for Christmas may
not realize right away just how
fortunate she really is.
But during the year she'll have
over 45.000 opportunities to thank
her lucky stars that she'll never
have to wash another dish. That's
because the average family dirt
ies about 3800 dishes per mgnth
' more man 4.i0, 000 per year.
Actually, it won't take her' that
long to realize how thoughtful
you have been. If she,'s entertain-

Her Meals Can End With Dessert, Instead Of Drudgery
There's A

dinner can be a thing of sheer single out the fact that the extra-
delight when she doesn't have the
stacks of dishes awaiting her in
Ihe kitchen. For with a dishwasher,
a meal can end with dessert
instead of drudgery.
The real gift of a dishwasher
is leisure time. Studies show that
she spends between an hour and
an hour and a half doing dishes
each day. In the space of a year
the woman has spent 21 days do-
the woman has spent 21 eays do
ing dishes.
While owners of dishwashers arc
particularly enthusiastic about the
time and work the appliance
saves them, they also have other
kind words for the product. Many
hot water used in a dishwasher
virtually sterilizes the dishes, kill
ing any bacteria or germs.
The dishwasher, moreover, is
almost unique in the way it qual
ifies as a "family gift" at Christ
mas time. That's because in most
households dishwashing is not re
served exclusively for the woman
of the house. The children and
the husband all come in eventual
ly for their turn at the sink. The
gift of an automatic dishwasher
will pay bonuses for all of them'
all through the year.

Blast Trial
Nears Jury
ATLANTA AP) The trial of
George Bright, 31, Atlanta engi
neer charged in the bombing of a
Jewish temple, was expected to
go to the jury Saturday.
Bright is the first of five men
to be tried on charges of dyna
miting the temple Oct. 12.
A state witness Friday quoted
Bright as saying he served as a
lookout for the bombings which
tore holes in the temple on fash
ionable Peachtree Road.
James Devore, 33, an automo
bile plant employe, said Bright
told him about the bombing when
they were cellmates.
Devore was being held on lar
ceny after trust charges later dis
missed. Devore said Bright told him
that "he drew plans and led the
plans for the bombing. He said
he did not do the actual bombing
but was a lookout.
After Devore completed testify
ing, the slate rested ana tne ne
fense, led by James R. Vanable,
becan presenting Us case.
So far, most of the defense
testimony has been directed at
discrediting statements made by
Leslie Rogers, lormer undercover
agent for the FBI. Rogers' testi
mony was to the effect that
Bright and the other defendants
were in a local chapter of the
National States Rights party,
which he described as anti-Jewish.
You can find an automatic elec
tric dishwasher that tils your
kitchen. Today, dishwashers are
available in three basic types
huilt-ins, portables and free-stand
ing.
The built-in dishwasher can be
fitted into your existing kitchen
beneath the counter top, where
it is permanently installed.
If you don't wish to put a dish
washer beneath the counter, per
haps a free-standing unit is the
one for you.
Or if you would like, there is
a portable dishwasher on casters
that can be moved aside when
dishwashing time is over.
With this selection available
you are sure to be able to find
a dishwasher that fits your own
personal needs.
Regardless of which one you
choose, you will find that they all
save you time . . . and what busy
homemaker and hostess wouldn't
like more time to devote to her
family and guests?
Today the homemaker must
double as both hostess and cook.
The automatic electric dishwash
er is the best built-in maid serv
ice she can get. But occasions fnr
entertaining are not the only
times a dishwasher helps out.
As a day in, day out labor-
saver a dishwasher will save the
average homemaker more than
four hours a week over the hand
method of washing dishes. This
was brought out in a study con
ducted at Ohio State University
with a group of typical families
How did these homemakers find
they saved time?
Clearing the table and scraping
the dishes is a routine part of
any dishwashing chore. But in
stead of having to stack the
dishes and ready the dishpan or
sink for the hand washing meth
od, they immediately put the
dishes in the" dishwasher, after
they were scraped. When all the
dishes were in the dishwasher.
the homemaker filled the deter
gent cup, closed the dishwasher
and pushed a button. The lob was
done dishes washed, rinsed and
dried with no attention from her.
These families found, too, that
because they washed dishes only
twice a day (the breakfast dishes
were stored in the machine until
the lunch dishes were added to
make a full load) they saved
money on detergents. This is no
small item at today's prices.
They found that the amount of
laundry they had to do was less
because of the decreased number
of tea towels used. This was not
only a time-saver, but a deter
gent saver as well.
In the Ohio Study, the home
makers felt the saving in china
and glasses was amazing when
they used a dishwasher because
the amount of breakage was so
small. What is more, the fam
ilies who participated in the study
believed that the labor saved, to
gether with the more efficient
results, helped pay for their dish
washers. And who couldn't use a
year 'round vacation from
monotonous dishwashing.
