The first concert of the fall
and winter season of community
concerts in Klamath Falls will
bring America's new dramatic ten
or, Albert Da Costa who made
his Metropolitan Opera debut in
1956 as Walther in "Die Meister
singcr." November 6 will open the series
of artist appearances at the Peli
can l neater. Admission is ny

admissions will be sold at the
door. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
The concert will start at 8 p.m.
Newcomers to Klamath Falls as
well as persons who were out of
the city during the membership
campaign in March, may obtain
memberships from the secretary,

Hailed as an exciting find. Al
bert Da Costa, in the amazingly
short time of two seasons, has es
tablished himself in the front rank
of that rarest of all operatic reg
isters, the Heldentennr.
Since his first appearance as
Walthor in "Die Mcistersingcr," on
.January 12. 195B, Da Costa has
won recognition in a variety of
operatic roles and in concert, both
in New York and on tour. At the
Metropolitan, he has added im
portant parts in "Boris Godou
nov," "The Magic Flute." "Der
Hoseukavalier," and the title role
of "Parisfal" during the 1957 Eas
ter season.
For the American Opera Society,
he has been .lason. opposite Eileen
Farrell. in the widely acclaimed
concert version of Cherubini's
"Medea," both at the Karamoor
Festival and in New York, and
he has appeared in their produc
tions of Rossini's "Otello." "Caval-
Icna Rusiticana and "I Pagliac
ci." With Ihe Little Orchestra So
ciety of New York, he has been
presented as Bacchus in Strauss'
"Ariadne auf Naxos," again with
Miss Farrell.
With the Seattle Symphony he
sang the title part in Verdi's
"Otello." He has also appeared
twice in concert with the Min
neapolis Symphony and with the
Boston Symphony at Tanglewood.

York Oratorio Society and the Min
neapolis Apollo Club, as a re-

the conference. Mrs. Brotherhood
will also serve as resource con
sultant on "Service Program at
the Senior Level" in one phase of
the program.

up this regional division of the na
tional organization.

WALNUT CREEK. Calif. (AP)
A crude bomb made with a lead
pipe tossed through an open
window of the Walnut Creek fire
station exploded with damaging
effect Tuesday night but all eight
occupants of the building escaped
injury. Police expressed belief it
was the work of juveniles.

experience, both as a volunteer
and professional worker, qualifies
and equips her with strong con
victions for the Girl Scout pro
gram. Sharing honors with Mrs. John
son in the keynote spotlight will
be an outstanding Senior Girl
Scout representative of all Girl
Scouts in Region XI. "You can
count on us" will be the theme of
this program highlight.

ness' Marx brothers, is engaged
to marry blonde model Diane
Davies, 22.
They haven't set a dale for the
marriage, he said. They met
about six months ago in Las Veg

His first wife Marion divorced
