LAKEVIEW A well known pio
neer family of Lake County
was represented when Judith Kay
Laird, daughter of Air. and Mrs.
Warren A. Laird, and granddauch
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren C.
Laird of Lakeview, became the
bride of Ronald Kugene Brown
at 8 o'clock Saturday evening, Au
gust 23, in the First Presbyterian
Church in Lakeview. The bride'
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Donald A. Brown of Salem.
The double ring ceremony was
pertnrmert by the Rev. C. Wayne
Julier before an altar decorated
with pink and white flowers and
lighted tapers. Pew decorations
were of pine carnations and white
satin bows. Organist was Mrs.
Herbert Sanderson and soloist,
Robert Shotwell. The hrlde was
given in marriage by her father.
The bride's gown was of em
broidered tulle over satin, with a
fitted, long-sleeved bodice. The
Sahrina neckline was scalloped
and bordered with flowercttes.
Two wide front panels of em
broidered tulle were edeed with
scallops to match the neckline, Mary Morgan arranged for guest
ann uers oi tune, alternating with oook signatures. Also assisting
Salem, a fralernity brother of the
bridegroom. Ushtrs were W. Conk
Laird, brother of the bride; Dennis
Rrown of Salem, brother of the
bridegroom,; Tom Lovell and
Dwight Baker, also of Salem.

wore a pink print chemise dress

VISITOR
Freda L. Metsker of Ceres. Cali
fornia, has been a guest at the
home of her brother, Otis M. Met
sker, 1755 Oregon Avenue. Miss
Metsker, a registered nurse, is a
supervisor in the children's warj
of the Memorial Hospital in Ceret.
She operated the hospital In Ten
nant, California, for the Internation
al Paper Company before the town
was closed down by the mill.
VENTURE CLUB held its annual open house September
15 at the home of Mrs. Lawrence Slater. Thirty girls were
present to enjoy the social evening of cards. Assisting the
girls with the affair were Soroptimist sponsors Mrs. A. C.
Baekes, Ruth Ray, Mrs. George Rogers, Mrs. J. D. Both
well and Mrs. Emil Albreeht, Soroptimist president.
Kathleen Gallagher, president of Venture Club told
the prospective members the services of the club which
include the Mother's March in the polio drive, coopera
tion with the celebration council for July 4 activities, and
sponsoring an annual card party and style show.
Venture-Club is sponsored by the Soroptimists for all
working girls between the ages of 18 and 30. Initiation
of new members will be held September 29. Signing the
guest book at the open house are, seated left to right,
Mrs. Lawrence Slater, Gracie Lou Henry, Mrs. Merle
Rush, and, Esther Storts. Standing In same order, Mrs.

who became the bride of Roger
Seibert September 13 in St. Augus
tine's Catholic Church in Merrill.
Jude Seibert. sister of the bride
groom, offered the guest book
for the guests to sign as they ar
rived. Assisting Mary in opening
the many lovely gifts she received
were her twin sister, Betty Tay
lor, and Jude Seibert.
