Man Uninjured
In Truck Mishap

escaped death and serious injury
Wednesday afternoon wnen he rode
his freightliner and set of doubles
over a 35-foot embankment one
mile north of Weed on Highway 99
and landed onAhe Southern Pacific
railroad tracks.
The two trailers were loaded
with empty fruit box crates that
dumped onto the tracks in the
oile-UD. Approximately 20 Pacific
Telephone and Telegraph lines were
ripped out as the rig went over
the roadside, and nine guard posts
and rails were torn out of the
ground, one six-foot rail rammed
completely through the truck's fuel
tank.
The driver for the trucking com
pany at Lafayette was headed for
Medford. He stated the truck went
out of control on the uphill curve
and he attempted to remain on
the roadway but lost control and
went over.
California Highway Patrolman
Gus Kehrer, investigating officer,
stated a low right front tire is be
lieved the cause of the truck going
out of control.
