guard that he needed help to carry
his money inside. It turned out to
be Brian Ulrick, 11. With the help
of his father. S. J. Ulrick, and the
guard, he hauled in a huge display
type beer bottle stuffed with coins
and a few bills. It weighed 17S
pounds. It took two tellers three
hours and 14 minutes to count the
money $909.51. Ulrick said he
has been saving his pocket change

ORANGE, CALIFORNIA is fo be fhe new home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Surles
and their two young sons, Dennis 10, next to his father, and David, 13, who will be missed
at Peterson School. Missed also in educational and cultural circles in Klamath Falls will be
Len Surles, head track coach at Klamath Union High School since 1953, math instructor,
physical ed instructor and boys' adviser for 10 years. He is a charter member of the Toke
tee Lions Club. Mrs. Surles I Minnie) has taught also at KUHS, substituting for faculty
members'. She is a past president of Klamath Falls Chapter, American Association of Uni
versity Women, has appeared consistently on TV and radio, writes much of her own script
and will long be remembered for her appearances in Little Theater productions in Klamath
Falls. The family home here has been at 4430 Laverne Street. The new menage will be in
East Santa Ana from where Len will commute to his new position in the Orange High
School. The move is back to that part of California which was once home to Mrs. Surles,
where her mother, Mrs. H. E. Barr, many times visitor here, lives. The family leaves this

Is Honored
With Shower
BONANZA Norma Terpening,
bride elect of lionald Roberts, was
the honored guest at a personal
shower on July 23.
The party was held at the home
of Mrs. Charles Schmidli with Mrs.
Homer Dixon co-hostess.
Summer flowers were used about
the room and a small nosegay
was on each plate when refresh
ments were served.

Dinner Party
A family dinner party in honor
of ncwlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Jerry
Carson, of China Lake, California
was given at the home of Jerry's
sister, Mrs. Marley Thurman, 1759
Summers Lane, on Wednesday,
July 30.
The young couple was married in
the Community Baptist Church in
China Lake on Sunday, July 27.
Mrs. Carson is the former Geor
gia Veryle Vick, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Carter Vick of
China Lake. She will be a senior
in the China Lake High School this
year.
Jerry is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
T. C. Carson of Selma, California,
and is stationed in the Marine
Corps in China Lake. He attended
Klamath Union High School.
The newly married couple are
making their home in China Lake.

104 of the Independent Order of
Odd Fellows will be hostess to Mrs.
Edna Oster of Molalla, Oregon,
president of the Rebekah Assem
bly of Oregon when she pays an
official visit to the 31st annual con
vention of Rebekah Lodges of Dis
trict No. 16 in Oregon.
The convention will be held Sat
urday, August 9, in the lOOF Hall
Klamath Falls. In addition to
Prosperity Rebekah Lodge No. 104
other lodges in the district arc
Merrill Rebekah Lodge No. 151,
Merrill; Fraternity Rebekah Lodge
No. 106, Bonanza; Lakeview Rebek
ah Lodge No. 22, Lakeview; River

ert Woods, former residents of
Klamath Falls now living in Mer
rill, were honored on Saturday eve
ning. July 26, when a host of
friends, relatives and old and new
neighbors surprised them with a
