VISITORS from Portland this week were Mrs. Edward
Poitrai, her young daughter, Diane Poitras, and nieces and
nephews for whom Mrs. Poitras is caring. The charming
family of small folks and Mrs. Poitras were guests at the
home of Mrs. Poitras"' aunt, Mrs. Floyd A. Olds of Chilo
quin. They drove to Klamath County from their home,
8016 North Willamette Street in Portland, and after a few
days' visit returned to join Poitras, finance officer in
the office of Indian affairs. Left to right, front row are
Mrs. Poitras, who appears frequently as a vocalist for
Portland groups, holding Susan, 5 months old, Floyd Harry,
4, Richard, 2, and Wanda, 6. Standing are Geraldine, 9
years old, Diane Poitras, 7 and Warren, 8. The children,
with ,the exception of Diane, are daughters and sons of

to membership by transfer in Hope
Itebekah Lodge No. 33 at the recent
meeting of the organization in the
Odd Fellows Hall.
Mrs. June Acer, noble grand,
presided at the meeting. Mrs.
Parshall formerly resided in Wash
ington, and Mrs. Wendland recent
ly moved from Oregon.
During the business session, a
letter was read from Bonnie Mar
tin, state goodfcllowship chairman,
which informed the lodge that a
"Traveling Cabin" would be in
Yreka soon to solicit aid for Presi
dent Frassic Speckart to raise
needed funds to establish a youth
camp in the Sierra Hecroeliohal
Association in Tuolomne County.

Lodge No. 306, Cedarville, cele
brated its golden anniversary in
Odd Fellowship in its temple June
19 with Mrs. Charlotte Daschner,
vice grand, presiding in the ab-,
sence of Mrs. Lucille Sugden, no
ble grand. The lodge was institut
ed on Thursday, June 19, 1908.
There was a potluck dinner at
6:30 in the banquet room which
was decorated with pink roses,
the flower and color of the lodge.
Napkins were inscribed in gold
with the insignia of the order, name
of the lodge and Hates 1908-1958.
Mrs. Alice Criss. Adin. deputy
president of District No. 49. oc
cupied a seat of honor at the
head table. She was accompanied
by Mrs. Helen Wolter, Mrs. Laura
Walker, Mrs. Addie Yowell and
Mrs. Gracie Vogt of Mystic Jewel

The officers wore dresses made
after the fashions of 1908 and at
their stations were the golden fig
ures "50" accompanied by sym
bols of the order.
A cloudburst in Surprise Valley
prevented some of the officers
contest, sponsored by the Sover
eign Grand Lodge.
Following the meeting the mem
bers adjourned to the banquet
room for refreshments served by

Alturas Rebekahs 'Celebrate
Golden Anniversary June 19

Northern Rebekah Lodge No. 208.

Mrs. Criss was presented by
Mrs. Demick.
Mrs. Ash presided as reader in
tne presentation of a pageant which
depicted the story of Odd Fellow
ship and history of . the Cedar
Lodge. The pageant' was directed
by Mrs. Viola White, lodge sec
retary. Mrs. Stella Hill of Sacramento,
only living charter member of the
lodge, was prevented by illness in
personally receiving the honors
planned for her. Her sister, Mrs.
Nora Bennett, Cedarville, was
asked to receive for her sister a
50-year jewel given by the lodge.
Mrs. Bertha Warrens and Mrs.
Nora Bennett were introduced as
49 and 47 year members respec
tively of Cedar Lodge.
The lodge room was decorated
with bouquets of spring flowers.
Refreshments were served after
the meeting. The anniversary cake
was baked and decorated by Mrs.
Ash. Mrs. Bennett cut the cake and
was assisted by Mrs. Ash in serv
ing it.

Dorothy Hill was a surprise fea
ture of the June meeting of the
Castle Grange Home Economics
Club at the grange hall.
Gaily wrapped packages in a
pink and blue trimmed basket were
presented to Mrs. Hill at the close
of the meeting.
Mr. Stork's helper and other ap
propriate table decorations added
to the festive affair. Secret pal gifts
were also exchanged. Hanna Hum
phrey and Pearl- Freemart served
refreshments to the 37 guests present.
