NEW YORK (UPD This should
make a lot of TV viewers happy.
Hallmark Hall of Fame" will
give a live repeat of "The Green
Pastures" next March 23 on NBC.
Its first presentation of this play
last fall coincided with the late
.Mike Todd's party in Madison
Square Garden telecast by CBS,
and many persons missed "The
Green Pastures," which went on
to win seasonal awards.
A new Warner Bros. TV scries
slated for ABC next season is
"Lawman," starring John Russell
and Peter Brown. It will be played
Sundays from 8:30 to 9 p.m., fol
lowing "Maverick."
Red Skelton, the comedian who
goes on and on whether times are
good or bad for TV comics, has
signed a new five-year exclusive
deal with CBS. He ll stay in the
9:30 p.m. Tuesday spot.
The producer of Millon Berle's
new NBC half-hour will be Hal
Kanlor, who also served the old
George Gobel program for its first
two sea'sons. Kantor also will write
and direct for Berle.
Tennessee Ernie Ford will be
back on NBC next season in his
usual Thursday night spot, the
sponsor having signed a 52-week
renewal order effective October 2.
The master of ceremonies of the
new Haggis Baggis quiz series
NBC will unveil June 30 will be
Jack Linkletler. 20-year-old son of
the radio-TV veteran. Art Link-
letter.
'EGG BROADWAY BOUND
NEW YORK Wl One of France's
most-discussed new plays. "The
Lgg. is finally bound for Broad
way. A two-year hit in Paris,
the satiric comedy is to be pre
sented here next fall by Alexan
der S. Ince. The drama by Feli-
cien Marceau concerns a little
clerk who finds life suddenly com
plex after penetrating the secret
of the egg. which is the play
wright's symbol for the mysteri
ous, hostile world.
COMIC'S NOVEL DRAMATIZED
NEW YORK Carl Reiner. TV
actor and chief comic aide of Sid
Caesar, is providing the plot for
an upcoming Broadway show.
State rights to Reiner's novel, "En
ter Laughing," have been obtained
by David Merrick, one of the Main
Stem's busiest producers. The
dramatization is to be done hr
Joseph Stein and Will Glickman.
The story concerns the trials and
tribulations of a stage struck
youth of 17.
