known real estate man and auto
mobile dealer, said today that he
will publicly announce his candi
dacy for the California State Sen
ate during a campaign kickoff din
ner in Crescent City Saturday eve
ning, March 1.
Lange said he will (ile on the
Democratic ticket seeking the sec
ond district senatorial seat which
is now held by Randolph Collier
of Yreka.
Lange is a native of Nebraska,
was raised and educated in Med
ford, and moved to Yreka when he
was 18. He has operated electrical
appliance and truck repair and
parts businesses in Yreka and San
Jose, California, and during the
past 14 years he has been part
owner in the Erickson and James
Motor Company of Yreka. He re
cently sold his interest in the busi
ness and has established a part
time real estate office in Yreka.
He has also been a participant
in several logging, lumbering and
trucking ventures in Happy Camp
and Yreka.
Lange said he feels that his well
rounded background will prove to
be an invaluable source of expe
rience and knowledge, and that he
will wage a vigorous campaign
based on a "positive program for
local needs.
He is a resident of Yreka, is
married and the father of four
daughters. He is 45.

The Lewis and Clark College
Choir of Portland will appear in
concert at the First Presbyterian
Church in Klamath Falls on March
8 at 8 p.m.
This choir, which is now well
known throughout the Pacific Coast,
will be on its loth annual tour.
The choir is under the direction
of L. Stanley Glarum whose chor-!
al compositions are used by school
and church choirs throughout the I
entire country. Some of his recent
compositions will be featured on
the program.
In its decade of touring, the
group has been enthusiastically
received by audiences from Disney
land to Vancouver, B.C. ine choir
is regarded as comparing favorab
ly with the best choirs in the na
tion. Ferdinand de Lesseps, who built
the Suez Canal, had no engineer
ing experience.
