Road Project
Report Aired
The county court has been in
formed that the confusion has been
cleared up relative to qualifying
the McAllister Springs-Lake of
the Woods road for public road
improvement funds.
The proposal for qualifying the
road was submitted to the forest
service last year by representatives
of the State Highway Commission.
Subsequently, the Klamath County
Court was inlormed that arrange
ments for the project were being
held up due to some disapproval
on the parts of the U.S. Forest
Service and the U.S. Bureau of
Public Itoads.
Last Friday County Commission
er Jerry Hajnus and County Road
Engineer Bill Canton attended a
meeting with forestry officials and
were informed that the reported
disapproval was the product of a
"little confusion" within the par
ticipating agencies.
It was pointed out during the ses
sion that the USHR funds are not
dciinitely earmarked lor the Mc
Allister Springs road, and that the
project will be considered along
with other contemplated road work
in the Northwest.
The court was advised that un
der present programming, it may
be possible to do the survey work
for the road during 1!I59, and that
contracts for the work can possibly
be let during 1!)59 or l'JGO.
