- SCARE DELAYS
NEW YORK (UP)-The drpar
ture of a Northeast Airlines DC-3
with 19 passengers aboard was
held up one hour and 25 minutes
Thursday night because of a bomb
scare. Airline officials said an
anonymous caller telephoned say
ing "a place going to New Hamp
shire" had a bomb on it. A search
of the delayed plane, bound for
Keene and Lebanon, N il., failed
to uncover any explosives.

SPEED SAVES LIVES
JERUSALEM, Israel (UP-
Quick action by two hospitals was
credited today for preventing any
deaths among 300 schoolchildren
who contracted food poisoning
from school lunches. Doctors and
nurses from the Bikur Holim and
Hadassah Hospitals rushed to the
school with stomach pumps as
soon as the alarm was sounded
Thursday. They set up clinics and
treated the children on an assem
bly line basis.

A snowstorm swirled in the cen
tral portion of the nation today,
dumping 2 to 4 inches of snow
within the span of six hours.
The storm was concentrated in
the area including the western
portions of the Dakotas and por
tions of Nebraska and Iowa.
Weather Bureau forecasters said
the storm would become even
heavier during the day in eastern
Nebraska and Iowa.
There was also light snow in the
general area extending from the
eastern Great Lakes and Ohio
valley into Pennsylvania and the
nortn Atlantic Coast states.

were reelected for three -year
terms at the annual meeting of
the shareholders of the Lake view
Federal Savings and Loan Asso
ciation, held on January 15. Those
reelected were E. G. Kavell. B. C.
Robinson and M. M. Barry, who
will serve until llMil.
A. M. Denio submitted his resig
nation as director and P. C. Qui-
senberry was named to fill the
unexpired portion of his term un
til lilliO. Denio became a director
in 1942, and since that time has
served as president three different
times, including the past year.
A meeting of the directors fol
lowed the shareholders meeting
and officers were elected as fol
lows: M. M. Barry, president;
B. C. Kobinson, first vice presi
dent; R. E. Harlan, second vice
president; E. G. Kavell, treasur
er; and .Marguerite Nelson, assist
ant secretary.
A 3'i per cent dividend was de
clared by the association for the
last six months of 1957, which,
with the 3 per cent dividend for
the first six months, made an av
erage for the year of 314 per cent.
The group was Incorporated In 1932
and, in 1937, declared its highest'
dividend of 4 per cent. In 1933 the
average was 3'i per cent, in 1945
a 2'4 per cent, and in the other
years the dividend has consistently
been a 3 per cent.

held in the Northwest for the first

February 2, at the First Christian
Church. The convention will be
held July 9-13 in Portland's Civic
Auditorium.
The North American Christian
Convention is a preaching conven
tion, its theme "God's Word for
God's World." Present will be
many Christian leaders from all
parts of North America.

an unidentified person threw a bag
