Draws Praise
The president of the Klamath
County Non-Partisan Tax League
today highly praised the bipartisan
effort of the state legislators when
dealing with tax matters and fi
nancial surpluses aunng the re
cently concluded special session.
Mrs. Josephine Kittredge, pres
ident of the league, said the wish
of the Oregon taxpayers to take
taxes and state financial matters
out of politics has been and will
continue to be a strong influence
with regard to the fiscal pokey
of the state of Oregon.
Mrs. Kittredge spoke at an or
ganization meeting of the Jose
phine County taxpayers at Grants
Pass Tuesday, and addressed the
Illinois Valley Women's Republi
can Club of Cave Junction on
Wednesday. During tne appear
ances she outlined the state tax
picture and evaluated the results

OTI Yearbook
Wins Award
' The 1957 Owler, Oregon Techni
cal Institute yearbook, has been
awarded a first place certificate
in the 23rd annual yearbook con
test conducted by the Columbia
Scholastic Press Association at
Columbia University in New York
Citv. Out of 1,000 possible points,
the Owler amassed a total score
of 853, which score resulted in
the 1st place certificate.
The Owler staff included Conrad
Hildebrand, editor: Robert Terry,
cover: Erna Bleak, assistant edi
tor; Spencer Etzel, art editor, and
Dave Molatore, photographer. Ad
visers were Earl Bairey and Bill
Finch of the graphic arts depart
ment and Virginia Kempston, dean
f women.

The Department of Motor Ve
hicles recently released the names
of drivers whose licenses were
suspended. . '
Length of suspension varies de
pending on the charges involved,
recommendation of court, discre
tionary action by the department
or requirements of Oregon law.
The department said some of the
licenses may have been reinstated,
fully or partially, after suspension
was ordered.

Examiners Plan
Ore Tech Visit
The Oregon Tech campus is be
lng visited this week by two rep
resentatives of the Oregon State
Board of Nurses Examiners for
the purpose of revaluating the
practical nursing program at the
school for accreditation purposes.
While the program is already ac
credited, it must be reexamined
each year and reaccepted for ac
creditation. In this way, the stand
ards of the profession are kept at
a high level of professional devel
opment. The two examiners on campus
include the executive secretary.

Recruiting Team
Visit OTI Campus
A three-man recruitment team
from the California Radiology Lab
oratory at Livermore, California,
spent November 12 and 13 on the
Oregon Tech campus interviewing
fourth, fifth and sixth term stu
dents in the fields of electronics,
engineering, dicsel, gunsmitbing
and auto machinists.
The laboratory is a research
division which works in connection
with the University of California
and for the past several years has
been hiring many Oregon Tech
graduates in the various fields.
Representatives of the laboratory
will visit the campus several
times during the school year for
the purpose of further interview
ing and the hiring of prospective
graduates.
VFW The VFW Auxiliary Post
1383 will meet Thursday, Novem
ber 21, at 8 p.m. in the VFW Hall,
515 Klamath Avenue. This will be
a social meeting and refreshments
will be served.
Cubs Pack 4 will hold their
regular monthly meeting Friday,
November 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the
girls basement of .Mills School
Cub Scout achievement will be
shown.
Birth A son Robert William,
was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wil
liam E. Snider, November 10, in
Munich, Germany. Snider is an air
man first class in the Air Force.
Robert William weighs 5 lbs., 12
ozs., and is the tirst hinder grand
son. The baby arrived on the 21st
birthday of his father. The child's
grandparents Mr. and Mrs. E. E.

Meeting of the Presbyterian

The Klamath Lake Christian
Endeavor Union will host a com
munity youth rally at the First
Christian Church, Friday evening,
November 22, at 7:30. Two Ameri
can Bible Society films, "The Bible
on the Table," and "God's Word
in Man's Language," will be
shown. Both deal strictly with the
Bible. Young people from all
churches are invited to attend.
