KAPPA CHAPTER of Beta Sigma Phi Halloween cos
tume party scavenger hunt on October 29 drew tome strange

AN EIGHT AND FORTY SOCIAL EVENT OF FALL was
the Halloween party and turkey dinner honoring Depart
ment President Mrs. Gail Jones of Albany,. Oregon, and
Mrs. Harold Larsen, department 2nd vice president, from
Portland.
The room and table decorations were in the Halloween
Circle-N Square Dance Club
Hosts Halloween Costume Party

were featured .decoration colors
for the Circle-N Square Dance
Club Halloween costume dance in
Hawkinsville Hall near Yreka, Ap
proximately 75 dancers were pres
ent, and included members of the
host club and guests from other
square dance clubs.
Halloween bats, witches, black
cats, etc., were hung in profusion
from the dance hall ceiling and
in the basement where refresh
ments were served.

son or club president, Ralph
James.

Fort Jones, Seiad and Sacramento.

Mrs. Jones gave an informative talk on Eight and
Forty matters during the dinner hour. The remainder of the
evening was devoted to informal Halloween fun.

Of Amaranth Court No. I I
A special meeting of Friendship
Court No. 11 Order of Amaranth
on November 6 in the Scottish
Rite Temple, honored past royal
matrons and patrons.
Mary Ellen (faster, grand rep
resentative, was introduced and
presented with a gift on the oc
casion of her 80th wedding anni
versary.
Royal Matron Emogene Jones
introduced the honored guests, past
royal matrons, Blanche Schulze.
Ruth Rodenberger, Blanche Marks,
Lucille Wirtz, Grace Herman, Char
lotte Martin, Mary Ellen Gaster
and Beatrice Denison; and past
royal patrons. George Boudon,
Frank Douglas, Wesley Guderian
and James Hunter. Royal Matron
Emogene and Royal Patron Nor
man Jones presented them with
gifts from the court.
Two vocal solos honoring the
past matrons and patrons were
sung by Mr. Travis Boyd accom
panied at the piano by Beatrice
Denison.
A going-away gift was presented
to Past Royal Matron Lucille
Wirlz.
Out-of-town visitor. Harold Jones,
past royal patron of Wenatchee,
Washington, was introduced and
welcomed.

At the next' session of Friend
ship Court No. 11 on December
19, there will be a Christmas par
ty and gift exchange. All members
are reminded to bring Christmas
gifts for distribution to needy
children.

Women's Club Holds Meet
The Mt. Mazama Toastmistress
Club held an organizational meet
ing at the Willard Hotel on Mon
day, November 11. to organize a
club for new members desiring
toastmistress training.
Carol Whetstone and Margaret
Davies presided as co-chairmen
and Margaret Davies also acted
as toastmistress for the evening.
Topicmistress for the impromptu
topics was Chris Young. Cecile
Jines serves as grammarian and
Leigh Fenning was general eval
uator.
As each guest arrived, she was
given a name tag bearing the
name of some popular comedian.
The name tags were cleverly ar
ranged to pair off one member of
the Mt. Mazama Club and one
new member. For instance, the Mt.
Mazama member would be tagged
as Dagwood and the new mem
beras Blondie. A prop table was
supplied with the props familiar
to the particular personality and
tne couples used these props in
introducing themselves.
An educational feature was giv
en by Eunice Bunnell who ex
plained the aims and objectives of

tress Club for the benefit ot the
new members.
Speeches were given by Arlene
Skawgset, Evelyn Natale and Reba
Marti.
Temporary officers to function
until January 1. were elected

Smith, secretary-treasurer, and
Virginia Morey as the vice-nresi
dent, who also serves as program
cnairman.
The next meeting of this club
will oe a dessert meeting at 7:30
p.m. at the Willard Hotel. Novem
ber 25. This is a new club and
all who are Interested in toast
mistress activities are welcome.
