of whether Marlon Brando's bride
was Anna Kashfi, Indian actress,
or Johanna O'Callaghan o Car
diff, Wales, still has Hollywood
buzzing today.
It appears possible that she was
both; that is, that Joan 0'Callag
han, actually born in India, took
an Indian name and atmosphere
for her theatrical career.
On the other hand, she told Hol
lywood friends that she was In
dian and on her marriage license
she listed her birthplace as Dar
jeeling, India, and her father as
Devi Kashfi.
Nevertheless. William Patrick
O'Callaghan of Cardiff, a Welsh
factory worker and former rail
road man in India, says that Anna
Kashfi is his daughter, Joan, born
India while he was employed
there. And MGM studio says her
paychecks were issued in the
name of Johanna O'Callaghan.
Whether she is Anna or Joan,
the 23-year-old beauty is now Mrs.
Marlon Brando and has been
since she and the 33-year-old actor
were married in nearby Eagle
Rock Friday.
Newsmen and studio people
have been unable to lucate the
honeymooning couple since to ask
about O Callaghan s parental
claim. When the bridal couple left
by automobile, Brando said he

developed for operational use both

Originally, it was a Navy pet,1
designed for ship-to-air use
against invading enemy planes
and invading enemy missiles. I
Some 10 years ago a decision'
was reached high in the Depart- j
ment of Defense to study its pos-'
sibilities as a land-to-air missile, i
The Navy was given the job of
developing Talos for this purpose1
and RCA became the prime con-,
tractor. '
RCA has been reluctant to tell
what it knows of Talos' capabili
ties until formal release of infor-i
mation
This much is known. Talos is
perhaps the nation's first com
pletely automatic missile system.
Men are required only for moni
toring purposes. The system latch
es on to the target-100 or more
miles away computes, corrects,
loads and fires itself. It reportedly
has a high firepower rate against
a multitude of targets coming
from many directions-a complete
prototype of what may be the
forerunner of the nation's future
defense system.
Talos. among other things, is
designed for use both with explo
sive or nuclear warheads. An

called it the "most advanced sys
tem of its kind in existence."
