CHILOQUIN The third annual
community calendar will be
printed for the Chiloquin, Fort
Klamath, Modoc Point, Klamath
Agency and Sprague River areas
for 1958, sponsored by the Wom-
ens Society of Christian Service of
the Methodist Church. The calen
dar lists meeting dates for such
diverse groups as PTA, church so
cieties, lodges, firemen and home
extension. It also includes the
dates when school begins and
ends, dates of spring vacation, the
county "B" school basketball
schedule, All - Indian Basketball
tournaments, and other items of
public interest.
A special feature of the calen
dar is the inclusion of birthday
and wedding anniversaries of lo
cal residents, information which
shows one of the differences be
tween living in a large town, or
in rural area.
The deadline for ordering calen
dars and giving listings is Octo
ber 8. Mrs. Gerald Wolff is gener
al chairman of the drive and Mrs.

Meeting Held
SILVER LAKE Members
the boards of Silver L'ake, Fort
Rock and Ana River school dis
tricts held a joint meeting at
Silver Lake Wednesday night.
Their purpose was to discuss the
county convention of school board
members to be held October 16
for the election of nine members
and five alternates to form the
reorganization committee for Lake
County,
Mrs. Anne Sprague. Lake County
superintendent of schools, who
met with the 14 representatives,
pointed out that the county had
been divided into five areas census-wise
for planning toward rep
resentation on the committee and
to facilitate the operation of the
convention. The convention will
proceed democratically, it was
pointed out, no matter how much
pre-planning is done. There are 60
eligible votes in the county.
It is hoped that each area in
the county will agree upon one or
more nominees and secure their
consent before attending the con
vention. This is to insure the
election of qualified persons who
are wining to serve during the
five year period ending June 1,
12.
Nominees may or may not be
members of present district boards
but must be school voters. Qual
ifications suggested were: first.
an interest in the education of the
boys and girls of Lake County, a
willingness to work, the ability
to work in a group and, if possible,
possession of qualities of leader
ship.
Funds set aside for the imple
mentation of the law will provide
partial reimbursement of expens
es of committee members.
This meeting was fourth in a
series of five area meetings. Board
members will meet at Summer
Lake October 9 to complete plan
ning prior to the October 16 con
