Youth Group
To Be Formed
MALIN A new young people's
group for both boys and girls from
the fifth to eighth grade age levels
is now being sponsored by the
Malin Presbyterian Church. The
group has chosen the name "Jet
e Cadets" and will meet on Sunday
evenings from 7 to 8 p.m.
Leaders are Alice Johnson and
Verba Long. Activities will include
Bible study, through which the
young people will work for ranks
and stars. Squadron divisions will
be in charge of the programs. All
boys and girls in the community
of this age group are welcome to
attend.

Said Unsafe
YREKA The Yreka high school
building has been termed "unsafe"
by a San Francisco engineering
firm and J. E. Hurley, superinten
dent, announced that corrective!
measures would be taken immed
iately. The study was undertaken after
conflicting reports of state officials
en the question of whether or not
new construction was indicated.
Hurley said a final written re
port will be forthcoming in about
three weeks but he had received
oral information that abandonment
for the present building will be
recommended.
Amos Purcell Dies
Following Illness
Amos Purcell, 77. a native of
Iowa, resident of Klamath Falls
for 15 years, died here September
29, following a long period of ill
health.
Surviving are a brother George
Purcell and a sister, Mrs. Ralph
Tucker, both of Ulysses, Kansas.
Services for Mr. Purcell will take
place from the chapel of Ward's
Klamath Funeral Home on Tues
day. October 2, at 3 p.m. The Rev.
Dallas McNeil of the First Meth
odist Church will officiate. Final
rites and commitment will be in
Klamath Memorial Park. '
