est and encouragement. '
At the right is Ruth Lobaugh, who capably accompanied Athena through the
varied and outstanding program at the concert in Mills Auditorium, Wednesday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Loney were hosts to about 75 guests at the after-concert reception.

The new bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Byron House and
the bridegroom's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Gilliam, all of Weed.
Soloist, Louis Welch, was accom
panied by Mrs. Welch, organist,
and Mrs. Allen Ball, pianist. The
accompanists also played inciden
tal music and the traditional pro
cessional and recessional.
The petite bride, given in mar
riage by her father, chose a prin
cess styled gown of winter-white
faille for the afternoon ceremon
ies. A small can-held her soft blue
fingertip veil and both were
matched in color to her slippers
and gloveS. A white orchid topoed
the white Bible carried by the
bride and her only jewelry was a
blue-bird of happiness pin, the
favored keepsake of a great-grarl-mother.
Maid of honor, Linda Mooney,
wore a blue nylon frock fashioned
with a full pleated skirt, and her
headpiece was a white flowerette
bandeau. She wore a white carna
tion corsage and white accessories,
Best man was Jerry Gilliam,
brother of the bridegroom. Rich
ard House, brother of the bride,
and a brother-in-law, Daniel Cook,
were the ushers.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs.
House chose a blue frock with
black and white accessories and
she wore a white carnation cor
sage. Mrs. Gilliam, mother of the
bridegroom, wore a pink knit suit
with navy accessories and her cor
iae was of white carnations.
A lawn reception for the more
than 100 wedding guests, was at
the home of the bride s parents

America open house in the Sacred
Heart Parish Hall Monday eve
ning, September 10.
Over 150 members and guests
were greeted by Grand Kcgent
Flora Rawlins.
Mildred Smith gave an informa
tive talk on the "History of Cath
olic Daughters of America" and
traced the beginning of the organ
ization to the present time, stress
ing the good works of the Catholic
Daughters in the field of schol
arships to Braille School in Wash
ington, D.C., the erection of a
monument of Our Blessed Mother
in Washington, D.C., and empha
sized the importance of registering
and voting.
The Right Rev. Monsignor T. P.
Casey complimented the Catholic
women on their activities in the
parish and their strength in the
home. Monsignor Casey then ad
dressed the gathering on the cur
rent "Rosary Crusade."

The circus theme was used in
the decorations and entertainment.
Lorraine Huettl, program chair
man, presented the exceptional
Bispham children, Vaughn, Joe
and Gean Dae who entertained
with a circus act besides an in
terval of violin, pano and vocal
selections. .
The enthusiastic crowd request
ed many encore appearances of
the talented trio. Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Bispham, parents of the
three, were guests at the open
house,
Giraffes, horses, elephants, seals,
lifesized, abounded in the roped off
circus arena, balloons were ev
erywhere, and realistic but gigan
tic ice cream cones hung from the
Walls.
These animals served as a hi
larious backdrop for the two
clowns, Margie Bocchi and Vir
ginia Knowles, who performed in
pantomime various antics of cir
cus clowns. Many guests were
drawn into the performance by
these capable performers.
Double-decker ice cream cones,
fancifully decorated, were dis
tributed to the crowd gathered for
the festive evening.
The next regular meeting of the
Catholic Daughters will be Sep
tember 24.
