E. Stevenson accused the Eisen
hower administration today o( (ail
ing to meet the school crisis. He'
listed this as a major campaign
issue and said the Democrats "are
going (to hit it often, and hard."
Back at his home base after a
fast political foray into California,
the Democratic presidential nom
inee' said hii own party has a good
program lor meeting the school
crisis, whereas the administration
has done nothing in three and a
half years but hold a fact-finding
conference.
"We already know the facts,"
Stevenson said. "Our need is not
for facts but action on the facts
... It is not only the future of our
children that is at stake, it is the
future of America itself."

Stevenson spoke up in a formal
statement keyed to the trek . of
children back to the classrooms
and to the political trips and con
ferences that have kept him on the
go for nearly two weeks.
Today Stevenson was speechless
not a talk on tap until tomor
row. Then he moves down to
Springlicld, 111., where he served
a term as governor, over to Co
lumbus to address the Ohio Dem
ocratic Convention, and on to
New York.
Next week he and his vice pres
idential teammate, Sen. Estes
Kefauver of Tennessee, will close
out a series of regional confer
ences in meetings in Hartford,
Conn., and New York with Demo-,
cratic leaders from the New Eng
land and Middle Atlantic States.
They already have held six such
conferences with party spokesmen
from 35 states the last in San
Francisco Wednesday,
i In the last 11 days, Stevenson
has averaged around 1,000 miles
a day by air and perhaps SO on
the ground.

DUNSMUIR No felonies were
committed in Dunsmuir during
the month of August, police rec
ords show. The two traffic acci
dents did not involve personal in
juries.
Of the 92, traffic citations given
in August, 4 were for speeding,
25 for illegal parking and eight
for improper registration. Mis
demeanors included one burglary
charge, one nonsupport, three
drunkenness, four disorderly con
duct, one vagrancy, two drunken
driving, 172 parking tickets, 11
litterbugs, and two runaway juve
niles. Police car mileage totaled 5,601
miles in August.

To Hold Opening
The Ponderosa Room of the
Wlllard Hotel will hold its grand

Mayers' Memorial Hospital will
be picked up Thursday, it is re
ported by Jim McDonald of the
show promotion staff.
Tickets are still on sale at Bud
and Charlotte's and the Derby I
Music Store in Klamath Falls, the
Sportsmens Hotel in Tulclake,
and the Merrill Drug store. The
show will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday,
September 16.

curity requirements of Russia,
could be met by creating a de
militarized zone in this sensitive
heart.and of the continent, it said.
The memorandum pointed out ,
British Prime Minister Eden ad
vanced the demilitarization idea
at the Geneva conference last
year.
This zone presumably would
straddle a reunified Germany's
frontiers with Communist Poland
and Czechoslovakia.
West Germany likewise pro
posed that a disarmament agree
ment should be discussed "hand
in hand" with German unification.
