movies (or religion two yean ago.
today Is back at work In television.
Th pretty blonde made news
when she announced she was for
saking grease paint to be a mission
ary and preacher for the Seventh
Dav Adventtst Church.
But this week the good Fenny
turned up a?ain as the heroine
wooed ty Clint Walker in "Chey
enne." one of the series shown on
ABC-TV's "Warner Bros. Pre
sents." I found the new Penny different
from the actress who was starred
in 26 films before she took up re
ligion. She no longer has bright
blonde, long hair. Her locks are
darker and shorter. She refuses to
tane "evil" roles or pose for leg
art in films.
JVORMAL LOOK DESIRED
"As far as makeup and costumes
for roles go. I believe in modern-.
tlon " ahe explained. "I Just want
to look normal."
Penny Insists that by returning
fa show business she doesn't feel
like a person who is given a faie
w?ll party and then never leaves.

"I am very sincere about my re
ligion. I don't feel I've changed my
mind. I think I've grown in my re

have God first in my life. If you
love Ood you don't have to do the
evil tilings you see around you."
During her two years off the
screen, Penny and her husband,
agent Ralph Winters, made seven
religious films for showing in chur
ches only. They also appeared on
religious TV programs.
They gave sermons at churches,
held bible classes in their home
three nights a week and toured the
country to give "testimony" at
evangelist meetings.
"And we had two babies," she
smiled. "I found peace and happi
ness and security. And I found God
doesn't mean us to be hermits. Bo
I returned to my career. But I still
will continue with my church work,
of course."

the Shasta Homedale Extension
Unit at 10 a.m.
At the business meeting . plans
were made for the exhibit at the
May festival. I.eah Ferrell is chair
man of the project, which is on
Ceylon. The nominating committee
was appointed.
Jean Rumelhart and Berthiel
Mayfield talked about the program
for next year, and members vot
ed on their preferences.
A short talk was given on the
rug workshop. Alma Woodard and
Ruby Nelson are project leaders
for the rug workshop.
