friends of St. Barnabas Church in
Langell Valley are having a clean
up day March 25 to get ready for
Easter. Potluck will be served at

Macdoel The Parents and Pa
trons Club Is sponsoring a pinochle
and whist party Friday evening.
March 23, at the Macdoel School.
Proceeds will be used to purchase
a wrestling mat for the school.
Parents are asked to bring dough
nuts to be served with coffee. The

which starts at 8 p.m.

Fort Lewis Hilary Winebarger
returned last Thursday to his
Army base at Fort Lewis. Wash
ington, after a 20-day furlough with
his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Robison, Macdoel.
Vacation Mr. and Mrs. L. D.
Tarsons have returned home to
Macdoel from a two-week vaca
tion trip to Arizona and Mexico.
Bray The Southern Pacific sta
tion at Bray, California, has been
reopened and an operator from
Macdoel has been sent there.
Puerto Rico Mr. and Mrs. Jess
Dieter, Macdoel, received word
their grandson, Gene Sheldon, ar
rived home at Bremerton, Wash
ington last Friday from Puerto
Hioo where he was stationed a
year with the Air Force. He ex
pects to receive his discharge
about April 1 and plans to enter
college.
Pinochle Club The Winter Pin
ochle Club met Saturday evening
at the Jim Butler home for tur
key dinner and the final play of
the season. Grand prizes for the
the season went to Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Myers, high and Mrs. Arn
old Criss and J. H. Noakes, low.
Prizes for the evening were won by
Mrs. Jim Butler and Jim Whitt,
high, and Mrs. Eldon Kaylor and
Arnold Criss, low. Butler won the
traveling prize.
Alturas Theta Rho Club elected
vfficers March 13 to serve for the
next six-month term. They are
Kora Oakeiitian, president; Mar
garet Turner, vice president; Beth
Copedge, secretary; Patricia Dem
Ick, financial secretary; Irene
Webb, treasurer. Mrs. Fred Ash
and Mrs. Thelma Lucky will serve

Resort Opening April 1 will be
opening date for the Stewart
Springs resort near Weed, which
has been closed since October.
Located four miles from the Edge
wood Junction on Highway 99, the
resort will rent cabins and have
mineral baths and mineral water
available. C. C. Young is manager
this year.
Patrol Car A new 1956 four
door Chevrolet sedan will soon be
delivered to the " Weed police de
partment for yse as a patrol car.

low bidder and will oversee trans
fer of the special radio equipment
from the old patrol car.

Air Force Gary Masco Morris,
Lakeview, reenlisted in the U.S.
Air Force on March 2 for four
years in grade of Airman First
Class, Morris completed four years
in the USAF last October and
returned to Lakeview where he
worked several months on a ranch.
He reenlisted for assignment to the
407th Air Base Group, Great
Falls, Montana.
Dorrls William C. Wire, son of
Mrs. Jewel E. Wire, Dorris,
has enlisted for four years in the
U.S. Air Force. Prior to his en-
llstment on March 7, Airman Wire
attended Butte Valley Hifh School.

Klamath golfers enroute to Medford to play in the Sunday
tournament- were stuck in eight inches of snow on Green Springs

Thursday, March 23, 1933 Dr. George H. Adler, Klcmoth
county coroner, was the principal speaker at the noon luncheon
meeting of the Lions Club at which Walter W. Waggoner
presided os choirmon. Dr. Adler described dangers of those

Fridoy, March 24, 1933 Mock Lillard, Klamath promoter,
returned from Medford, Thursday, and onnounced he would
resume the weekly athletic exhibitions ot the Legion hall next

Saturday, Morch 25, 1933 The Klamath Pelicans, one of
the strongest basketball teams ever turned 'out by the high
school, will be home from the state tournament this Saturday,
The team was defeated in only two Inferscholastic gomes,
and won the district championship. Those on the team are;
Jack Knight, Roy Allen, Dorrell Miller, Harold Scroggms,
Nelo Giovanini, W. Johnson, Wayne Perry and Dwight French,

Damage Revealed
WASHINGTON in The Agri
culture Department said Tuesday
3.33a.00O acres of land in the
Great Plains have been damaged
this season by dust storms.
A survey showed further, lt'sald,
that 19,400,000 acres were In a
condition to be" damaged by wind
erosion, due to lack of moisture
and soil cover.
The department said about 94
per cent of the land already dam
aged this season is located in
Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma,
New Mexico and Texas. About 85
per cent of that in a condition to
blow was said to be located in the
same states.
The department said the land
already damaged and that likely

same total acreage In similar
conditions a year ago.
