Disabled Bomber
Lands Safely
DENVER (UP) A giant B36
bomber, with 26 men aboard,
roared into a safe landing at
Lowry Air Force Base today with
two of its 10 engines flaming.
The plane, from Travis Air
Force Base In California, had
made several passes at the field
before Capt. R. W. Henderson,
the pilot, brought it In with the
aid of an H19 helicopter from the
44th Air Rescue Command. A B36
normally carries a crew of 10.
A spokesman answered "no com
ment" when asked if there were
any nuclear weapons aboard. Since
operations of the B36, an Air
Force Strategic Air Command
plane, are kept under secrecy
wraps, Its destination was not
made known.
EASING ASKED
TOKYO Pi Kyodo news serv
ice said Friday night Japan soon
will ask the United States to ease
restrictions on trade with Com
munist China. Kyodo, quoting an
unnamed government source, said
Japan hopes to lift the free world's
embargo on shipments of iron and
steel goods, machine - tools and
wooden ships among other Items.

RAF FOUNDER DIES

founder of the Royal Air Force,

city election on April 10. The lone

a limited time to buy another fire
truck.

Pleads Innocent

Keller, 28, of Portland, Thursday
entered a plea of Innocent to a
charge of participating In Inst
April's extortion-bombing of the
Meier and Frank department store
here.
Her blind brother-in-law. Clar
ence Peddicord, 38. Portland, has
admitted touching off the blast and
said that Mrs. Keller aided him
in the extortion plot against the
firm's president, Aaron Frank.
Peddicord has pleaded Innocent
because of insanity.
DAMAGES
DANVILLE, 111. on An Indiana
man wants $45,000 damages for
injuries he said he suffered when
his companion at a dinner pulled
a chair from under him.
John Slaughter of Carmel, Ind
filed suit in U. S. District Court
against Kenneth Llndsey of Vien-
na. 111. The suit aaid the Incident
occurred in a Herrin, 111., restau
rant Feb. 9, 1954.
Slaughter said as he and Llndsey
were dining be stood up to be in
troduced to another diner. He
charged Llndsey "wantonly and
wilfully removed the plaintiff's
chair," causing Slaughter to be
lamed and disabled temporarily
as well as suffer permanent In
juries."
