Bartender, Wife Go On Trial
For Fatal Heiress Abortion

er and his beautician wife go on
trial today on charges they per
formed the illegal operation that
killed a young heiress two months
alter her story-book elopement with
a motorcycle policeman.
Defendants In the case thnt has
attracted nationwide attention are
Milton Schwartz. 49, and his wife.
Rosalie. 43. Both have been free
In ts.000 ball since their Sept. 13
arrest.
The SJwarties specifically are
accused of abortion, abortion caus
ing death and conspiracy in con
nection with the death of Mrs. Dor
is Jean 8llver Ostrclchcr, 22-year-old
heiress to an east coast food
chain fortune. They face a maxi
mum sentence of 10 years In prison
and a 16.000 fine.
The red-haired beauty died In
the 8chwartr.es' north Philadelphia
apartment on the night of Aug. 24,
three days before her 23rd birth
day and exactly two months from
the day she had eloped to Georgia
with Earl M. Ostrclcher, Miami,
Fla., policeman after a whirlwind,
four-weeks romance.

the Republic of Korea Army's
counter-intelligence chief, Ma).

The 38-year-old Army officer
was killed as he rode In his Jeep
to work from his home In Seoul at
7:30 a.m.
Two unidentified men In ROK
Army uniforms rode up beside
him and pumped four bullet at
the general. Two struck his chest,
another ripped through his chin.
The fourth hit the left foot of the
driver.
The assailants escaped, but po
lice said they were on their trail.

THIS STOCKPILE of spuds contains an estimated 200 tons of tubers to be used later this year
as cattle feed by Ed Johnson, owner of t he Super Packing Company, Klamath Falls. The feed
yard is on the Hill Road north of Merrill whera Johnson is currently feeding 1,000 head of ani
mals. Potatoes make better stock feed attar freezing and thawing, which dehydrates them,
Johnson said. Numerous other cattle buyers and shippers and private operators divert potatoes
to stock feed.

tourists after all
Most returning travelers grouse
about how Europeans make a fast
buck from naive Americans.
But Tony and spouse Janet
Leiph, formerly young marrieds
from a world bound by Ciro's and
fan magazines, lived for five ex
citing months abroad. They not
only acquired culture, but got It
inexpensively,
"You can cat anywhere very
cheaply," insisted tnst-talking
Tony as he stretched on the couch
of his living room.
"Wonderful little restaurants. Lit
tle hotels. Why do people complain
they get cheated? On the boat I
went down to third class to talk
to a young New. York attorney and
his wife who were going over on
less than $1,000 for the entire trip.
Most anybody who saves can go to
Europe these days."
Tony and Janet's acquisitions.
"We bought a bunch of paintings.
Well, actually lithographs. By Pi
casso. Matisse. Braque. very
cheaply," the kid from the Bronx
said.
"Janet also brought diums and
sculptures from Africa. And we
took a.SOO photographs."
His biggest bargain, he thinks,
were two German cars. One is a
tiny three-wheeled bug he picked
up for SB50 as a surprise for Janet
when she arrived In Paris after
finishing movie in Africa. The
other Is a plushy $8,600 model "at
least $2,000 cheaper than I'd pay
for the car in this country."
"When we drive the three
whrcler in Beverly Hills cars pull
over to the side to ask us what
It Is." he laughed.
The 'curly haired actor even
picked up a smattering of French.
He csn rattle off the French words
for "laundry," "raccoon" and
"brassiere" but the use of this vo
cabulary mystifies me. The word
for "brassiere" he thought meant
"good morning" and he used It as
a greeting for weeks In Parts until
be was wised up.
On this culture trip Tony worked
In Hecht-Lancaster's "Trapeze."
filmed in Parts with possibly the
best role of his career. The bobby

LYNN ROYCROFT collared a couple mora trophies for his of
fice recently when ha was awarded tha "30 Grand Cup" ( left
and tha Accident and Sickness award for leadership in the
Willamette Agency of Standard Insurance Company. The "30
Grand" cup for agency leadership marks the seventh time in
the last eight years Roycroft has won .the cup. The Accident
and Sickness cup was won for the first time. Roycroft has re
cently moved his offices to 3820 South Sixth in the Tuwn and
Country location.

Besides thinking Paris living is
cheap. Tony has another unusual
observation. It's popular to deplore
Italian film stars. But Tony says
of his co-star, Gina Lollobrigida.
"She's wonderful. An earthy, good
actress. I hsd the wildest time
with that woman. I liked her."
