Milkmen Elect
New directors were elected Tues
day by members of the Klamath
Grade A Producers Association at
a meeting In Klamatli Falls.
The new board will organize and
elect the association president at
a meeting next Monday evening.
Two new directors were elected
to serve three year terms on the
board. They are Stanley Masten
Jr.. of Poe Valley and E. O. (Edi
Born of the Crystal Springs area.
Two other directors were reelect
ed. They are Lawrence Geraghty
of Merrill for three years and
George Relllng of Poe Valley for
two years.

Secrecy Trend

Morse (D-Ore) warned Tuesday
night against what he called the
"dangerous trend" In this country
toward "government by secrecy
and concealment."
"There Is no substitute for pub
lic disclosure when it comes to
protecting your rights as citizens,"

several events. to aid the fund cam
paign, Kroksh said. -

annual meeting of the association,
which was held at the Wlnema
Hotel. In addition to the election,
the activities of the association
during the past year were re
viewed in detail.
Speakers included Oscar Hagg,
extension dairy marketing special
ist from Oregon State College, who
discussed milk promotion activities
of the dairy councils and the
American Dairy Association, and
the federal milk for school lunches
program;' Lester Adams of Med
ford, executive secretary o the
Oregon Milk Producers Associa
tion, who discussed the coordina
tion of the milk pools which have
been set up In various parts of
the state, and Dr. Fred Wedam,
Klnmnth Falls veterinarian , and
city milk Inspector, who discussed
the milk inspection program and
sanitary procedures.

Clifford Jenkins, manager of the
Tulelake Growers Association, has
announced that the truck which
will deliver the shtpment to Yuba
City will leave the El-Bee (Charles
Blumenthal) potato cellar at Hat
field at 1 p.m. Thursday, January
19.
The shipment will be taken free
of charge by the Ruttman and Al
corn Trucking Service and deliv
ered to the Red Cross which will
distribute the food item, also free
of charge.
Anyone who can contribute may
deliver to the warehouse or call
the growers' office, Tulelake, 7-1501'
for pickup.
Guessing Contest
To Aid Campaign
A bean guessing contest to aid
the March of Dimes is underway
between the Eagles Lodge, Ameri
can Legion, VFW and Moose Lodge.
A Jar of beans has been placed in
each meeting hall and members
buy a chance to guess the number
of beans in the Jar. All the proceeds
go to the March of Dimes drive.
The winner within eaA club wins
a prize for the closest guess and the
club with the biggest contribution
to the dimes will receive a March
of Dimes drive award certificate.
PETERSON SCHOOL CLOSES
Mechanical trouble with the heat
lng plant at Peterson School sent
the 430 students of the first six
grades home Tuesday about 10:30
a.m. The building is heated with
radiant floor heat. Arthur Millard
is principal. Classes were resumed
today.

Shrine No. 5, Order of the White Shiins of Jerusalem, on his
progress in the Crippled Children's Hospital School in Eugene.
Herbert is in the third grade at the school.

Herbert Cobb, 9-year-old victim
of cerebral palsy, reported on his
progress at the Crippled Children's
Hospital School in Eugene at a re
cent meeting of the Naomi Shrine
No 5, Order of the White Shrine
of Jerusalem in the Masonic Tem
ple. The pupil, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jesse ' O. Cobb, 3704 Diamond
Street, has made rapid progress at
the school. He is one of the pa
tients that Nnomt Shrine has been
able to aid through its material
objective program, the philan
thropic work of the White Shrine.
The fraternal group was enter
tained by Herbert prior to Its regu
lar business meeting. Ho sang two
songs and cave a talk on his
school and stressed his determina
tion to get wpll and to make good
as an adult. Herbert leads his
class In . the third grade at the
school.

struments knocked out by an elec
tric failure..
The pilot, training his flashlight
on a crude magnetic compass, fin
ally found his way to La Guardia
field Tuesday night and made a
safe landing. The 21 passengers
and three crew members aboard
the Nortn-east Airlines plane were
unhurt.
Two persons were killed and a
co-pllot was reported missing
when a DCS airliner with 18 per
sons aboard crashed In a snow-

Troy, Ohio Tuesday night. One of
the pilots was killed but the other
parachuted safely.
At New York City, Pilot Robert
Francis credited his plane's nar
row escape to "the grace of God."
The airliner's electrlo system
failed six or seven minutes after
he took oft from Boston on what
should have been a 54-mlnute
Ulght to New York. The snow was
so heavy he couldn't locate the
Boston field to make a landing.
So, for three hours and a half,

In a Chlcagc-to-Green Bay North
Central Airlines plane. -
Both engines were knocked out
and Pilot A. J. Roeske radioed
that he couldn't make It to Oreen
Bay. Instead, he made a wheels
up landing on a plowed field three
miles from the airport and the
big plane slid several hundred feet
before coming to a safe stop.
