Senate's present session gets under
way today on a House-passed bill
to oxempl natural gns producers
from direct federal regulation.

the price paid by gas consumers.
Opponents of the bill say It would;
supporters say It wouldn't.
Both Democratic Leader Lyndon
B. Johnson of Texas and Republi

supporters and they predicted Its
enactment.
But Sen. Monroney tD-Okla),
floor manager of the measure,
said the senators appeared to be
so closely divided that the fight
"could be won or lost'' In the floor
debnte. Sen. Doimlas (D-Ill), a
leader of the opposition, said the
lineup seemed to be "about even."
