Lakeview Under the direction of James Arment and Robert Shot well, the Lakeview High School band, the high school chorus and the elementary Intermediate school Potato Seed Lots Listed Greenhouse space for test plant ing of uncertified potato seed lots will become available around the first of the year, according to H. E. Finnell. who heads Oregon's seed certification program. Klamath growers who wish this service are urged to submit samp les early to take advantage of the opportunity for earlier' returns. Production of foundation and certified netted gem seed from 53 acres which passed field and dig ging time Insnectlon in 1955 Is estimated at 120.000 bags. Based on past experience. Coun ty Extension Agent Walt Jendrze jewski expects some of this stock to lose certification eligibility in the greenhouses, To date reports have been received for eight gem seed lots. Three rated foundation. Four rated certified. One lot failed to meet the one per cent green house tolerance for leafroll. According to Jendrzejewskl, a high percentage of commercial lots In the county are considered to carry too much leaf roll for safe use as planting stock. Last year more than one-half the commercial samples test planted were reported to carry more than two per cent tear rou inrecuon. Many such lota were discarded. But many commercial fields were planted with stock carrying one to two per cent leaf roll In fection. Production from aueh fields is extremely unlikely to be suita ble seed for commercial planting. Suppliers of foundation and eer , tlfted gem seed In Klamath County are likely to be short of the coun ty's needs. Late decisions not to Dlant com mercial stock may find foundation and certified seed supplies very euun.
