Disaster Loans

will be approved for farmers of
six Oregon counties as a result of
November freeze damage If they
meet certain quiremenls. a

cial said Monday.
C. G. Hendry, of the Portland
FHA office, said that to obtain a
loan, a grower must have suffered
at least 26 per cent over-all loss,
to be a farm owner or operator,
have exhausted all other sources
of credit, and obtain a standby
aeveement from creditors.
The three-year loans would carry
3 per cent Interest and be secured
bv a first mortgage on crops or
real estate. The money could be
used only for operating expenses
with none to be used for re-financing
outstanding debts.
Loans would be available for
farmers of Clackamas. Washing
ton. Columbia. Multnomah, Marion
and Yamhill counties, Hendry
said.
California Firm
Gets Rocket Work
WASHINGTON (UP) A Califor
nia fhm will build one of the
rocket motors that will hurl an
artificial satellite some 200-miles
fmo outer space.
The Navy yesterday awarded a
contract to Aerojet General Corp.
of Azusa for construction of a
liquid motor for the second stage
of the three-stag rocket.
The rocket will carry the first
man-inads a 1 1 e 1 1 1 e into outer
space during the 1957-1P58 fteo
