Picked Up

gitives from the Washington State
Penitentiary at Walla Walla were
identified In the Ollroy Jail Sunday
after giving assumed names when
they were arrested Friday hiding
In the Ollroy Motor Co. shop.
They are John Russell, 25, of
Yakima. Wash., and Edward L.
Burkholdcr. 53, of Springfield,
Ore.
They were arrested when Patrol
man Joe Blafore Investigated on
seeing that aome metal siding of
the shop facing an alley had been
puiiea loose.
Blafore recognlr.ed a nearby ear

as "hot." One nf the pair had the
keys to It. In the car were a .45
automatic, two shotauns. a hlsh

Melvln C. Cottle, 32, an auxil
iary deputy serving as a guard
for United, swore to a complaint
charging third degree assault
against Geojge Laube, 32, a flight
engineer, and Edward Daniels, 48,
longshoreman. ,
Cottle said he was pulled from
his car and struck on the head
by five men outside the gates of
Unitcd's maintenance hangar at
Seatlle-Tacoma International Airport.
The picket line disturbance fol
lowed the arrival Saturday night
of 40 maritime union members in
support of striking AFL Flight
Engineers' Assn.
After the disturbance, the air
line obtained a temporary re
straining order limiting pickets to
two euch at eacn of the six en
trances to the UAL building.
Flight engineers complied with the
order and maritime men removed
picket signs but remauied near
by as "spectators."

A Klamath Falls police patrol
used hand fire extinguishers to put
out a fire in the scat of a pickup
irucn early Sunday morning.
The fire was noticed by the pa
trolling officers, who pulled the
smoldering seat out of the truck
and sprayed with an extinguisher
in weir car. me truck was owned
by Steve Washburn, 2154 Eber
leln. Cause of the fire is unknown.

The incident occurred at 4:15 a.m.

study of that forest.

the Whitman, the Stanislaus and
the Los ' Padres forests and with
