' MOLASSES GINGERBREAD
Va cup shortening
1 egg
Vt cup sugar
V't cups flour
2 teaspoon baking soda
iji teaspoon each cinnamon and
ginger
yt teaspoon each cloves and
nutmeg
H teaspoon salt
Vi cup New Orleans molasses
' ii cup hot fruit Juice or eoffee
Cream shortening and sugar un
til fluffy and light. Add egg and
mix well. Sift dry ingredient to
gether. Combine real New Or
leans molasses and hot liquid. Al
ternately add flour mixture and
liquid to creamed mixture. Blend
thoroughly. Pour .batter Into well
greased 8"xt"x2" pan. Bake In a
moderate oven (3M degrees) about
35-40 minutes. Cool several min
utes before removing from pan.
Then split in half. Fill and dee
orate with fluffy white Icing.
