evidence was yet to come. .
"We're jus.t using our small!

tor the weekend.
Superior Judge Charles . Wade
Snook said there uould be only
three court tla next week. Since
Thursday Is Tiianlcpgivlng, he de
cided to recess court Friday, in
addition. .
Coakley has refused to reveal
witnesses' names lu ; advance of
their testimony, but there was
speculation that next week he
would call Dr.. and Mrs. Charles
S. Bryan, the parents of the mur
der victim.
If hs docs, it would be the first
time that ' Mrs. Bryan has ever
faced the man charged with the
POLIO?
kldnap-murder of her 14-year-old
daughter, Stephanie.
Apparently the state plans to
call about 76 witnesses. Coakley
said yesterday that he was about
"30 per cent" through his list and
lie has called 15 witnesses. How-
ever, he may -hold some back to
use Tor a rebuttal case anoutd tne

would need answenrg.
Yesterday two more witnesses
told the Jury 01 seven men ana
five women their versions of a

' The struggle took place a short
time after Stephanie vanished on
her way home from 'school at
Berkeley. Her body was found
July 20 in a shallow-grave 300
yards from Abbott'a summer cabin
in far Northern California.

Marshall said the driver "had a
mean look in his face. . . He looked
as though he was going to do
bodily herm to someone."
He said he could not stop be
cause of the traffic, but was so
impressed by the incident that he
reported the matter to the High

my car."
They were the third and fourth
persons to testify about an incident
involving a man and a girl in a
car on the day of the kidnap.
The last witness yesterday was
Highway Patrolman Charle3 Jae

and the others in his car bad con
tacted him about the incident on
the afternoon of April 28.
Earlier yesterday, Mrs. Marian
Morgan of Berkeley testified tut.',
her car was nearly struck at a
Berkeley intersection by a car
which sped through a red light at
high speed about the time Stepha
nie disappeared April 28.
She said the car was "Identical"
to -Abbott's 1949 Chevrolet s;dan
and picked the 21-year-old A'lbjU
out as "looking like" the drive.-.
