STILL CONFUSED about Oregon's school bus stop law? Sec
retary of State Earl T. Newbry furnished this explanation. On
a two-lane roadway, you must stop when meeting or overtaking
a school bus which has halted to load or unload children. On
roadways having three or more lanes, you must stop only it
you are traveling in the same direction as the bus. After having
stopped, you must not proceed as long as any children are
leaving the bus or crossing the roadway. To assist in holding
traffic while children are crossing the road, all buses are
equipped with a red stop signal arm. You must stop for the
bus whether or not the stop signal is displayed. Use of the
signal is merely the driver's means of telling motorists that
children are crossing the roadway and that they must stop.
The lav applies equally to city streets, rural roads and highways.

Name Leaders
New Klamath Union High School
Hi-Y and Trl-Hi-Y council leaders
were named at a meeting Wednes
day night i in the Y Building.
Joe Linman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. " Jack Linman, 39 Nevada
Street, was named president of
the council and Kaye. Kidwell,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
H. Kidwell, 2934 Altamont, coun
cil secretary.
The two officers will represent
the HI-Y, Tri-Hi-Y chapters of
K.UHS at the Southern Oregon dis
trict meetings of the group which
are held several times a year.
The council is the top body oi
the nine chapters of Hl-Y, Tri-Hi-Y
at KUHS.
The winners were elected by a
representative vote of all the members-each
chapter nominated a
candidate for each of Jhe posts.
The next meeting of the council
will be Tuesday, December 6 in
the Y, 722 Fine Street.
'Blood Rites'

Two reservation' residents with
slashed wrists admitted while un
der treatment late Wednesday in
a physician s office that they cut
each other with razors while per
forming "blood rites," in the Pas
time Pool Hall. '
According to a police report, of
ficers were called to Bussman's
Seed Store where they found two
men who were bleeding from the
wrists. Tney claimed another had
cut them In the pool hall wash
room. i
Later, at the physicians office.
they said they were making "blood
marks" on each other and cut too
hard. After treatment, they were
booked at the city tail on vagrancy
charges as Luke Bearhart and
Abram Struck.

DENEICE KENYON, junior at University of Oregon, is one of
five favored femmes on the Oregon campus destined to be in
the homecoming queen's court. On Thursday, November 17,
one of the five will be chosen as homecoming queen to reign
over the weekend festivities; the others to be members of her

YMCA Plans
Fund Drive
The Klamath Falls YMCA youth
will launch "Operation Map Face"
Saturday, November 13, as a fund
raising drive for their world serv
ice. The Gray-Y Fun Club and the
summer campers ot the Y will
conduct a door-to-door soap selluig
campaign to raise the $200 they
have set as their goal for their
world service contribution. .
The YMCA world service Is an
extension of the Y program in 30
foreign countries of the world with
the theme "Helping People Help
Themselves."
The youth group has decided on
two ways to raise the money-personal
giving and the sale of the
soap. The drive is under the di
rection of Bill Cornell, Y program
secretary.
