truck load limits, the best road Is

Oregon's standard Is four Inches
of pavement with a 12-inch base.

"We build the roads stronger
than normally ' needed," Baldock
raid, "because uc always add a
25 per cent safety factor. That's
so that one heavily' overloaded
truck won't break up the road. It
also reduces maintenance costs."
