(Harry) Vogtman, 221 North Spring Street, in a national con
teit sponsored by the Hotpolnt Appliance Company, Mrs,
Vogtman signed a blank at the Swan Lake Moulding Company,
distributors for Hotpoint equipment. Her name was one of hun
dreds of thousands submitted that was drawn for a priie.
Hugh Estes, employe of Swan Lake Moulding Company, deliv
ered the prize to the astonished winner.
Jet Crash In Japan Takes Crewman's Life
TOKYO Ufi A U.S. Air Force Lt. Charles W. Clark, co-pilot
medium jet bomber on. a training
flight to Japan crashed on takeoff
in northern Honshu Friday, killing
one crewman and injuring three
others.
The plane was one of several
from Mountain Home Air Force
Base in Idaho on a "mobility ex
ercise" to Japan and Okinawa.

officer of the Idaho base, said he
had been informed the other three

bloc?"
It isn't an easy question to an
swer. The group of 17 nations
representing more than 650 mil-

ple Isn't a solid bloc at all. But
tney represent a vigorous coalition
with enough potential strcngtn to
wrinkle the brows of U.N, diplo
mats.

Austin Loci, 44, one-time Oregon
police chief charged with the fatal
stabbing of a California woman,
pressed a surprise plea of self
defense today as his trial drew to
a close.
Jurors were expected to begin
deciding Loci's rate before noon.
The trial picked up speed late
yesterday when Loel took the stand
to present tne most sensational tes
timony of the trial.
