Party Lead
TOKYO A Japanese who

of the powerful new Socialist party

zuki was elected chairman ot the
new Socialist party at a convention
that welded into one Bloc tne leu

divided over policy since 1931.
The 62-year-old Suzuki predicted
in an interview his forces will win
200 seats In the next election
perhaps next sprint. They now
have 155 votes in the 467-seat lower
house of the Diet dominated by
Conservatives.
"And in the following election,"

Suzuki has been called an anti
American but he denies it. Yet he
speaks frankly of his objectives
which would cause a reappraisal
