Actually no one but no one
really knows how old the original
Spanish Rice recipe really is. Yal
everyone but everyone knows
how delicious a meal it makes.
Its jronrierful flavor and hearty
goodness has made it a favorite
with every member of the family
over a period of years.
This particular recipe boasts of
an even greater "plus" because,
made with packaged pre-cookeri
net and canned tomato sauce, it's
a real quick-easy dish without loss
of flavor or homemade goodness.
In fact now that Spanish Rice can
be made 'Pronto." it will prob
ably be one of your weekly special
ties either for lunch or dinner.
Serve it as a main course or as
an accompaniment for meat or
fish. It's delicious every way.
RICE MADRID
it cup bacon drippings, butter,
or margarine
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
about 2 cup)
i medium green pepper,
diced (about 1-3 cup)
1 1-3 cups i5-ounce package)
pre-cooked rice
i, cups hot water
i cans '8 ounces each) tomato
sauce
1 teusp'jon salt
Dash of pepper
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
(optional)
Melt fat In saucepan or skillet.
Add onion, green pepper, and rice,
and cook and stir over high heat
until lightly browned. Add water,
tomato sauce, salt, pepper, and
mustard Mi well. Bring quickly
to a boil. Cover tightly and sim
mer ID minutes.
