KF Church
Gets Pastor
Tne Rev. Marshall A. McKinnie
has been called to the pastorate
01 the Congregational Church in
Klamath Falls. He sill fill the
pulpit on October 2. He succeeds
Bruce Johnson, student pastor who
has filled the pulpit during the
summer.
The Rev. McKinnie Is a native
of Springfield. Illinois, lie received
his A.B. degree at Denison Uni
versity. Granville. Ohio, in 1913
1933 and at the University of Illi
uois, 1S37-1939. He attended An
dover Newton Theological School.
Newton Center, Massachusetts and
was graduated with a degree of
bachelor of divinity In 1944.
Hi! has served churches in South
Hampton and Bradford, N e w
Hampshire; Clarence. New York
and Rock Springs, Wyoming. He
has served on the church's state
Board, of Promotion In Wyoming.
Other activities in that biate in
clude community activities in Rock
Springs, offices in the Ministerial
Alliance and as welfare depart
ment supervisor for the emergen
cy distribution of government sur
plus commodities to unemployed
miners and railroad employes.
He is married and the father of
four chilnren, Dorothy, a hi-jh
school senior: Ruth, a sophomore:
Robert in the fourth grade and
John, two years old.
GRANGE NEWS
MIDLAND ORANGE '

Mrs. Mildred Norman, state sec
retary, was guest speaker at the
-Midland Grange Booster Night
program that was held at the Hen
ley Grange Hall at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 21. A pot
luck was served by Mrs. Amy
Crapo, home economic chairman
and who with her committee
served approximately 12 people.
Ritualistic exemplification in the
opailng of the grange was led by
master, Leon Andrieu and his staif
of officers. After the presentation
of the flag, the Midland juveniles
led the flag salute. Tne master
welcomed nil non-members, and
visiting grangers, and the state
officer, Mildred Norman.
Her address was on the life of
the grange from juvenile lime up
to subordinate, state, and nation
al grange. The national grange
message was read by Francis
Flowers.
There were 16 non-members,
and 20 visiting grangers from var
ious granges throughout the state,
. among them were Mr. and Mrs.
' Ed Norman, Milwaukee, Oregon:
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Youngren, past
county deputy of Douglas Coun
ty; Phil Motschenbacher, Shady
Cove, Oregon, former master of
the Midland grange and county
' deputy and Pomona lec'.urer, Mr.
and Mrs. Carl Yancy of Shasta
View Grunge.
Reports were given by Mrs. Min
nie Andrieu on juveniles; Mrs.
,. Amy Crnpo on home economics:
James Flowers on agriculture:
Verland Huff on legislature; Kath
ryn Smith on the youth progiam.
Several skits, tableaus, and com
munity singing were presented.
Minnie Andrieu gave the history
of the Oregon Grange and Verda
Urback gave a history of the sub
ordinate grange.
Charter members of the Mid
land Grange were honored and
presented with corsages and bou
tonnieres. They were Mrs. Edna
Travers, E. G. Parker and Lloyd.
. Newlin. Twenty-five year members
Mr. and Mrs. Hi Largent. Mr.
end Mrs. August Andrieu and Lee
Sutton.

Joseph C. Voight, 69. father of
CUfloid C. VoiplH, 1603 Eldorado
Avenue, Klamath Palls, died in
Boise, Idaho, Tuesday.
Mr. Voight was boru in Indian
ola. Nebraska. February 26. 1866.
find moved wiih his famiiy to Boise
in 1937. From.Ioaho he moved to
Klamath Falls tn 1944 and re
turned to Boise Valley in 1952. The
family home is at Route S, Merid
ian. A retired farmer, he was a
member of the Baptist Chuich,
Idaho Lodge No. 1. AF & AM.
and Hillah Shrine Temple of Ash
land.

York. city, Mary O'Loughlin of Se
attle and Mr; and Mrs. Louis Val
entine of Mt, Vernon, Washington,
were here for that purpose,
Mrs. Carson, whose father kept
the store at Cliff from 1912 to 1915.
recalls their trip here from Wash
ington as homesteaders. They
shipped pre-cut lumber for five
houses, household goods and other
belongings. The freight on the ship
ment was $800.
Mrs. O'Loughlin, who taught
school a-. Sink and at Cliff, still
owns the land she homesteaded in
this area.
