NEW YORK (UP) Manager
Casey Stengel was juggling the
starting lineup ol the favored New
York Yankees today, with Mickey
Mantle and Phil Rlzzuto his big
problems on the eve of the first
name of the World Scries agains;
the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Stengel's worries, chiefly about
Mantle's Injured leg. were respon
sible for a slight reduction in the
odds favoring , the Yanks , to win
the opening game from 13-10 down
to 6-5. But New York remained
a 13-10 choice to win the world
championship for the sixth time
in seven years.
"I don't know who's in the out
field and I don't know who's in
the infield." Stengel admitted.
But I do know I got two pitchers

there was a "slight chance of light

Yankees simply because of weari

By contrast, Manager Walter
Alston making his first appear
ance as a series pilot has the
Dodgers' opening game lineup all
set. It features seven right-handed
hitters to face the southpaw slants
of Ford, with only big Duke Snider
and Newcombe batting left-handed.
Alston -is expected to keep the
same lineup lor the second game
when Byrne, another southpaw, is
the probable Yankee hurler.
The rivals both had workouts
scheduled today but at each
other's ballpark. The switch was
made by mutual agreement to en
able the players to become more
familiar with the strung? territory.
That means the Dodgers cavort
today in spacious Yankfce Stadium,

famed Brooklyn right-handed slug

testing their aim at the distant left

sport fans never hesitate to boo
their own heroes, but they're prob
ably feeling a little sheepish today
over their latest attack on quarter
back Jim Finks of the Steelers.
The ex-Tulsa' star was treated

"Bronx Cheer" Monday night when
one of his passes was Intercepted
by Leo Stanford of the Chicago
Cardinals, who lugged It back 92
yards for a touchdown. That tied
the score at 7-7 early in the fourth
period.
However, Finks tried again with
less than one minute to play and
this time he connected on a 27
yard aerial to Ray Mathews that
carried the Steelers to a lf-7 vic
tory in their opening game of the
National Football League season.
It was Finks' second touchdown
pass of the game. He brought the

It wasn't until several years

Then, feeling like just another

But then Alston took over the
club and, instead of seeing the

so much, Alston saw only a ball
player going down the shady side
of the hill. At the beginning of
this season. Alston Inferred that
Robinson would have to win his
