an expert's warning they can
throw away the 1956 election de
spite the popularity of President
Eisenhower, boned up today on
how to win.
In the second day of a four-day
campaign school here, they called
in one adviser alter another for
counsel on such techniques as pre
cinct organization, purchase of TV
and radio time, door-to-door fund
raiding, and how to make best use
of the candidate's "advance men."

to a downtown meeting hall today
to protest a new government tax
collection system which goes into
effect Nov. 1.
The new law requires the girls
to turn in receipts showing their
prolits from an evening's work.
It is bound to cut sharply into
their Income. They have been able
to avert, a high tax by declaring
small incomes. Now, they'll have
to make their declarations and
dally receipts jibe.

Harry S. Truman in 1948, when
Republican Thomas E. Dewey was
considered a shoo-in.
Chotiner, a Los Angeles attorney
who successfully managed Nixon's
campaigns for the Senate in 1950
and for vice president two years
later, told the group Wednesday
Mr. Eisenhower is the best qual
ified and most popular candidate
thev could pick. He said an Eisen
hower ticket unquestionably will
win provided they do their part)
in organizing a campaign aimed at,
picking up every poFsible vote. j
