Rules Told
By Gralapp
Regulations or children who will
start in the first gride of city
schools this week have been an
nounced by Arnold Gralapp, city
school superintendent.
Children must be S years old
on or before Kovember IS. A birth
certificate is required for first
graders only, A medical examina
tion for all first graders is reconv
mended. Medical examination
forms may be obtained through
the Klamath County Health Office.
Eighth graders who did not at'
tend Klamath Falls schools last
year are to report to Fremont Jun
ior High School with their report
cards for the previous year at
1:30 p.m., Fridays September 2.
All freshmen are to report to Klanv
ath Union High School at 1:30 p.m.
on the same day.
Buses will make the regular run.
beginning at 12:45 p.m. for the
first pickup. They will return about
2:30 p.m.
School opens for all pupils on
Tuesday. September 6, Beginning
time la as follows: high school,
8:30 a.m.; Junior high school. 8:40
a.m.: 9 a.m. all elementary schools.
Schools which have a different
starting time will announce this
schedule to pupils on luesaay.
KUH8 will operate the regular
schedule of classes all day Tues
day. September 6. Therefore, stu
dents are urged to purchase school
books and supplies before hand.

The KUHS cafeteria service will
begin the first day of school.
On Tuesday, September 6, Junior
high school wiu operate on the

Plans were made for the an
nual grange Booster Night to be
held in. September when the Mid
hind urange met at the Henley
Grange Hall on August 17.
Tile meeting was turned over to
the men by Mayme Cammock,

Hoover acted as master of cere
monies. Taking part were Ray.

Former Edgewood
Resident Dies
YREKA Funeral services were
held Wednesday alternoon at Up
ton s Mortuary In weed for Grnver
C. Jacobs, about 65, an uncle of
County Supervisor Clint Jackson
of Edgewcod.
Jacobs died Sunday at the vet
erans' hospital in Oakland.
A World War I veteran, he mar
ried in 1917. His wife died while
he was serving In France, and, a
son died by drowning in 1935.
In J928. while he was living at
Edgewood. he left for a li&hint;
Irip on the Klamath River and
dropped out of sigh, for about 25
years. When he returned home, he
said he had traveled throughout
the West and had worked as a
truck driver, miner and other oc
cupations.
He had been an Intermittent na-
tlent at the veterans' hospital for
the past year. ,
Survivors include a brother. Lora
T. Jacobs of Oakland; three sis-,
ters, Mrs. Velma Shaffer of Edtfe-
wood, Mrs. Ora Heintz of Ions
ueacn and Mrs, pearl Lee Jack
son of Oakland. Mrs. Jackson is
the mother of Supervisor Jackson.
Funeral services were held un
der the auspices of the American
Legion and Hie Veterans of For
eign Wars. Interment was in the
Edgewood Cemetery.

Elementary School will start class
es at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Septem
ber 7. The cafeteria will start
serving meals on the opening day.
All buses, except the one making
the Tionesta run. will operate on
reversed routes this year. Thio
means that pupils who were picked
up on the first part of the run

chairmen of the local organiza
tion, each wearing a hat depicting
the office each holds for the pres
ent term, was presented as pro
gram with the arrangements made
by Mrs. Woodrow Wilson, mem
bership chairman.

meeting and Mrs. H. C. Strothers,
