To Retire
Mrs. Kenneih H. iLouise Esles,
who started to worlt for the Pa
cilic Telephone Company In Salem
on July 16, 1918. will retire on
Friday. August 26. from her duties
as supervisor in the local telephone
olfice. Announcement of her re
tirement was made today by How
ard Austin, local manager of the
telephone company and by Mrs.
Estes.
She came lo Klamath Falls In
1929 when the telephone office
was on Seventh Street. During
World War 11 the telephone com
pany tock over the operation of
.signal offices in Army camps and
Mrs. Estes was transferred to
Camp Adair, near Albany, Oregon;
Mom there to uamp aodou, near
Bend and later to the Marine
Barracks near Klamath Falls. At
the end of the war years she re
turned to her position at the local
office.
In announcing her retirement,
Mrs. Estes stated that she has
seen radical changes In telephone
service to the public during her 31
years of service.
She plans to spend some time
at 'the family's summer home at
Lake of the Woods and later to do
some traveling with her husband.
Vacation Bible
School Ended
Vacation Bible School of the
Community Presbyterian Church
will be concluded this Friday with
an open house from 9:30 to 11:30
a.m. There will be exhibits and
programs from each department,
and all parents and iriends are
invited.
At 9:30 a.m. the kindergarten
will have their program. At 9:53
a.m. the primary group will pre
sent theirs; Junior at 10:20 a.m.;
and Junior high at 10:45. The pro
gram will conclude with refresh
ments at 11:10 a.m.

of Klamath Falls, Oregon', in the mat
ter of the Improvement of. the alley
in Block 4. Canal addition, to city of
Klamath Falls. Oregon. tOenerallv
known as improvement unit No. 124i;
Directing notice of said hearing be
given; and approving said assessment
roll heretofore filed herein.
Whereas, the Common Council of the !
Lliv of Klamath Falls. Oregon, has
made and filed in the office of the Po
lice Judge the proposed assessment
toll. In connection with the proposed
improvement of, the Allev in Block 4.
Canal Addition, to said City (generally
known as improvement unit No. 124.
as more fully shown on the plana and
described in the specification of the
City Engineer on file in- the matter
of the said improvement with the said
Police Judge.
Therefore, be it resolved bv the com
mon council of the city of Klamath
Falls, Oregon, duly assembled In reg
ular session, as follows:
