to the United States and his secre
tary were asked to leave the public
dining room of a swank eating

Mra. Mary Alley, the supervisor,
was reported by a witness to have
said she asked the pair to take
service in a small private dining
room. "The law's the law," she
was quoted as saying.
' If they had refused to move, the
witness quoted Mrs. Alley as add
ing. "I would have had to have

The witness. Houston Public Re
lations Counsel Frank Oibler, said
he was told by Mrs. Alley that she
"thought they were Negroes."
Texas law forbids serving Ne
groes and white people in the
same room. Houston's contract
with the federal government, how
ever, bana discrimination at the
International Airport, where the
incident occurred in the Horizon
House Restaurant. . '
The Houston Post said today that
at least six witnesses told of hear
ing Mrs. Alley ask'the ambassador.

The shooting down of the plane
Aug. 17 touched off an angry ex
change. The Communists said the

men. The flier and Brown's body were
taken by helicopter to an Army
hospital near Inchon, west of
Seoul,
The Communists had announced
that Bumpas, -of Jackson, Miss.,
suffered a fractured skull in the

being freed' but there was no an
nouncement of his condition.
