Southern California vacation, ar
ranged a series of private talks
with political friends Wednescday.
He planned a breakfast with
M?.vor Korns Poulsou, lornier
Republican congressman. Talks
villi other personal and politico!
friends will follow at the Biltmorc
Hotel. The vice president will hove
dinner privately with California's
Republican congressmen and state
legislators.
Nixon planned to fly back to
Washington tomorrow. He arrived
Aug:. II with his wife and their
daughters Julie and Patricia. They
spent much of the vacation with
Nixon's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Francis Nixon, of nearby La
Habra.
Last night the vies president
dedicated a flag and spoke at the
opening of the weelclon-; Musical
Festival of the- Americas In Holly
wood Bowl. Introduce! by Mrs.
Norman Chandler, president of the
Hollywood Bowl Assn., he said:
"Many people will say that
treaties of peace and friendship
can be the source of world peace", ,
but actually they mean nothing
unless they are supported by the
heart of the people, and any lan
guage that Is as universal as music
it certain to bring people together
no matter if they actually under
stand the speech of their neighbors

Wife's Reconciliation Hint Rejected By Airman Schmidt

but Daniel Schmidt said "no."
Una, who said she married logger

Press. Schmidt's attorney, Howard
P. Welch, Sacramento, said "Una
wants to sit down with Danny and
his mother and talk this thing
over."
Welch added: "I read into the
conversation the possibility of an
overture toward reconciliation. I
haven't advised Dan whether he
should take Una back. That la his
personal decision. But he has flatly
said he is not Interested in recon
ciliation." Welch announced earlier this
week that Schmidt, shot down in a
