AN OLD LANDMARK moved slowly up Eleventh Street Saturday afternoon on this truck.
It was formerly the "Chicken Shack" on Twelfth and Main Streets. The building was moved
by W. M. Chambers to make room for the new service station which is to be built on the
lot, It had been on that location for almost 30 years, and was used as a church at one time.
Chambers moved the structure to Washburn Way, where he intends to use it as a storage
shed. Directing traffic at right is Patrolman Ray Howard.

Argentine Citizens Seized As Internal Tension Grows

President Juan- Peron brought
Argentina to its greatest state of
tension since the June Is revolt
Police said more than 50 persons
had been arrested. Other sources
Indicated as many as 20 might
have been jailed. Previous an
nouncements of auch plota during
the nine years f Peron's regime
have signaled widespread round
ups of his enemies.
This could be. the end of the
"pacification" campaign Peron
launched after the abortive navy
uprising two months ago.
It also could mean a new flareup
in the feud between the President
and the Homan Catholic Church
mostly dormant since the revolt
and a new crackdown on the
opposition parties which have re
fused to go along with the pacifi
cation campaign unless the gov
ernment ends Its restrictive meas
ures.
Adding to' the unrest were new
antigovermnent demonstrations,
f-ont of Buenos Aires' Metropolitan
Cathedral last night and earlier
yestcrdav in the central Argentine
city of Cordoba. Police used tear
gas and fire hoses to scatter the
crowds, arresting about 40 demon
strators in th: capital and 15 in
Cordoba.
There were no signs of special
measures to protect the President.
The government announcement
saia the plotters had planned to
shoot him yesterday, from an
apartment they had rented on the
route along which he usually drove
between his office and his, home.
The announcement charged that
the conspirators' planned also to
kill MaJ. Oen. Franklin Lucero.
the army minister who quashed
the June revolt, and other top offi
cials and army .commanders, and
to launch a wave of terror by
disrupting power lines, t commu
nications, radio stations and pub
lic utilities.
