Hooper Rating
Chief Killed

Hocper, nationally known radio ex
exutive who founded the Hooper
system of rating radio and tele
vision programs, was Killed yes
terday when he fell into the whirl
niK blades of an air boat propeller
while duck hunting on Great Salt
Lake. He was 56.
He died a few minutes after he
was brought to a Salt Lake Clly
hospital, his body almost cut In
two by the propeller.
Frank McClatchy, of Salt Lake
City, one of two men Willi Hooper
in the boat, said the radio execu
tive Jumped out of the craft when
it lodged on a sand bar. He at
tempted to push it loose, slipped
and fell into the spinning blades.
An air boat has an airplane-like
propeller 'mounted on the rear for
use in shallow water.

pluses with Russia and its satel
lites. At a news conference yesterday,
Benson said study would- be given
both to direct sales of such com
modities to Iron Curtain countries
and to trade with "third party"
nations which might sell to the
Sonet Union.
"My feeling Is that we should
be willing to trade with Iron Cur
tain countries so long as the trade
is in our favor, whether it be butter
or anything else," Benson said,
adding:
"We are considering some sales
lo countries which may In turn
sell to Iron Curtain countries."

tive is to make the formula up-to-date
and as accurate as possible
