It'a home coming weekend for fhe
Oregon Tech Owis, and they face
the most important game of their
schedule as they meet Portland
State College this Saturday. night
on Modoc Field with a chance to
keep their Oregon Collegiate Con
ference record clean ar.d move Into
the top spot of the standings.
At the present tinif. Southern
Oregon is in the lead with the
Owls close behind, and should the
Mile High Campus team whip Port,
land state, something that might
prove hard to do, and the Red
Raiders from Ashland lose to Ore
don College, the Owls would be la
the driver's seat of the league.
The Oregon Tech coachinu stair,
headed by Rex Hunsaker with Boh
Smith and Art Kirltland lining the
assistant positions, have been work
ing their gridders hard in preoa
rafton for the coming ball game,
and have indicated that this Satur
day night's battle will be one of
the toughest for the Owls so far
this season.

This meeting of the two teams
will be a "rubber-match" as both
teams have won two games apiece
while two other contests ended in
& tie, over the six year span.
In 1948 and 49 when PSC was
known as Vanport, the games fin
ished in a 0-0 tie and 33-i in favor
of the Vikings. In 1950 when Hun
saker made his first appearance
on the OTI Campus,' the Owls again
tied the Portland team this time
13-13. The Oregon Tech first vic
tory over the Vikings -eame In 1951
when they ran to a 28-7 decision,
while in 1952, the Owls collected
their second win by taking a
lopsided 54-0 decision from the
Viks. Last year Portland State took
a 14-13 win from the Owls to even
up the series.
Portland State, which has the:
