Oregon Duckf
Figures Told
Oregon ranks eighth! for duck
hunting in the United States, that
is if duck stamp sales are any in
dication. According to recent word from
the U. 6. Fish and Wildlife Ser
vice, Oregon duck hunters pur
chased 73,268 of the $2 stamps.
This number was 59 below the to
tal for the previous fiscal year.
Throughout the United States,
the total dropped slightly from the
U time high reached during , the
1952-53 fiscal year;' however, the
total sales did reach a staggering
2,271,430 stamps.
Five states sold over 100,000
stamps with California the lead
ing state in the nation. The golden
state's hunters purchased 193,126
duck stamps. Bottom state on the
list was West Virginia with 2,335
stamps sold.
