FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS of 0. L. Lyon, Olene farmer who lost leg in a combine acci
dent two weelct ago, moved these six pushers to his barley fields Friday afternoon and by
sunset had his crop harvested and hauled to elevators. The combines are owned by Glenn
Kester, Paul Breithaupt, Irvin Campbell, I. F. Rodgers and Emil Wells, Poe Valley ranchers.

ankle. Lyon Is now at home con

group who moved their big pusher
combines many miles to save the
crops of their unfortunate neigh
bor included: Glenn Kester. Paul
Breithaupt. Irvin Campbell, Orb
Campbell, I. F. Rodgers and Emll
Wells.
In addition to trucks furnished
with the combines by the farm
ers listed above, other trucks for
hauling the bulk grain to the ele-
vulor were furnished by Gabriel
Brothers, Taylor High and George
Rotting.

ized the harvesting party and op
erated one of Uie combines.

Annual Fishing
Derby Planned
Between 400 and 500 youngsters
are expected to enter the seventh
annual fishing derby, sponsored by
the Izaak Walton League and the
city recrea'.lon department, accord
ing to Boo Bonney, recreation di
rector. Age limit for entry is 14 years
maximum. Only minimum require
ment Is that the fisherman be big
enough to hold his own pole and
retrieve his own fish If any.
Derby will be held at Link River
in Veterans Memorial Park, Fri
day, August 37, from 5 to 6 p.m.
There will be prlies galore, Bon
ney declared. Among the many
classifications for which prizes will
be given are the smallest bpy and
smallest girl entered, boy catch.

The YMCA building closed Mon
day and will be closed through
August 30 to general activity dur
ing the absence of Paul Camp

be attendlhg the YMCA Summer
School at Seabeck, Washington.

classes in gym and the club sched
ule will be announced in a future
issue of this paper. Special ac
tivities will be conducted for indi
vidual boys, youth, men and wom
en. The special summer program of
the Y was completed with a day
camping program for boys. Groups
have been going to the various
points of interest during the last
several weeks.
Denny Creek was the destina
tion last week with the boys hav
ing the opportunity to learn camp
cookery, camp craft, archery, to
hike, fish and play games.
Increased interests in the YMCA
camp program will result in a
six weeks schedule next summer.
Day camping in addition to the
recular camp sessions at Diamond
Lake will be included on the 1955
summer program.
Campbell has directed all the
summer activities.
