Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rife have
moved to Klamath Falls. Rife
worked in the Lamm's Lumber
company office for many years but
since it has been out of operation,
in recent years he has been com
muting to Klamath Falls, Mrs.
Rife taught primary grades at Mo
doc ' Point for many years, but
since all the students have gone
to Chiloquln, she has been work
ing there. Now, she Is transferring
to Shasta School In Klamath Falls.
They have rented their home to
Mr. and Mis. Olen O'Neill and
daughters.
Mrs. O'Neill has moved the post
office equipment to the new loca
tion which is far more convenient.
Charlynn O'Neill has been away
all summer, working at a Califor
nia resort for her aunt and uncle.
She will be a sophomore at Chilo
quin High School this fall.
Mrs. Gall Ridenour has been at
Klamath Valley Hospital this past
week and is hoping to be fully re
covered in time to begin the school
year at Chiloquin, where she
teaches a combination second and
third grade room. Her husband Is
on the recuperating list, also, as
he cut a finger off in a hay chop
per at Tulana farms the week be
fore. Mr. and Mrs. Ridenour ear
lier In the summer did a great
deal of work on their lakeshore
backyard. They put in a patio,
large corner fireplace, planter,
rock wall, and a redwood fence.
It has been the location for a num
ber of yard parties throughout the
summer.
Another Chiloquin grade school
teacher, Mrs. Lester Hoback, is
also on the get well list, following
surgery In Klamath Falls. Mrs. Ho
back teaches fourth grade.
Modoc Point's only business es
tablishment, the gas station opened
this summer on U.S. 97, is getting
an addition. Mr. and Mrs. Anton
Zadina, Chiloquin, are the owners.
They are putting In a ten foot ad
dition for stocking grocery staples,
and are adding a small garage
unit lor car lubrication and minor
repairs. Plans for the future in
elude moving the house to the north
end and adding several rooms and
then to build a aix-unlt motel.
BOUNCY PATSY is one-half
year and one-half month old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Haynes, Tulelake. The young
miss in dotted Swiss has three
proud grandparents. Maternal
Mrs. Elias R. Aaland, Los
Angeles; and paternal, Mr.
and Mrs. Otto D. Haynes,
Tulelake.

The Harvcys finished haying
Thursday and Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Brunnemer and family who have
been helping went to Davis Creek,
California, to visit his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Brunnemer.
Mrs. E, M. Cnrlon and Mrs. Guy
Foster were Thursday afternoon
visitors at the home of Mrs. E. R.
Nelson.
Mrs. Vancil Withers and grand
sou Mike, were callers Sunday eve
ning of the W. H. Harvey and Jim
Elder families.
Jim Foster finished his hay con
tracts at the XL Ranch for Brat
tain Brothers Wednesday and
moved to the lower marsh at
Paisley to put up the Brattafn hay
there.
Mr, and Mrs: Alan Withers and
Mike, who have been visiting rela
tives and friends here the past few
weeks left Monday for Texas were
he Is stationed at Terrin Air Force
base.
Mrs. Jim Foster and four daugh
ters returned home Wednesday.
She attended summer school at
Monmouth, and the children stayed
with their grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas McClellan, Neotsu,
Oregon. They remained overnight
In Salem Tuesday to visit relatives.
Mr, and Mrs. Bud Pernoll and
Alta Lee went to Thompson Valley
to remain for several weeks. Their
son. Buddy, went back to (he Jess
Roberts ranch at Westslde to. work.

spending two weeks with her friend

Calkins, Haines, Alaska, stating
they were not able to contact Olen
Calkins, Carl's brother, at the time
of their father's'death, William Cal.
kins, passed away recently af. the
Carl Calkins home in Alaska. Mr.
and Mrs. Glen Calkins moved from
here some time ago and have rot
been heard from since.
Mr. and Mrs. Davie O'Connor re
turned home Friday from Portland
accompanied by Hannah O'Leary,
Paisley. Miss O'Leary will be mar
ried August 28 to Benny Jones,
Portland.

appendectomy. which he submitted
