Stage Play
An enthusiastic cast is at work
en "You Can't Beat- Fun", the
hilarious comedy revue sponsored
by the American Legion Drum and
Bugle Corps, scheduled lor Fri
day and Saturday nights, Aug'ist
20 and 21, at the Mills School
auditorium, , ,
Bill Mills, as Sticky Lamson,
master of ceremonies, keeps the
show moving at a fast pace as a
variety of Jokes, skits and special
ty acts parade across the stage.
Rex Dye, as Big Berlha, and
Jack Otterbein, as Senator I. Kis
sem, nppear in a ventriloquist skit
that will have the audience rolling
in the aisles. Ted Otterbein, Ever
ett Ball, Bill Alexander and Al
1-onge as Diamond Lil, Frivolous,
Sal, Minnie the Moocher and Klon
dike Kate, Join "Big Bertha" in
the unusual dance of the Broad
way Butterflies.
Tom Pierce, Jim Herbert aiid
Cecil Haggreeii are featured as
the "favorites" in the Mcnnen
Shaving Derby and a dressing race
comes as a surprise to two mem
bers of the cast, as well as to the
spectators.
A highlight of the evening Is
the silent movie version of "Frankie
and Johnny" with flonnlc Bryan
as soloist.
Among the many specialty acts
will be Bob Mest and his saxo
phone, a Hawaiian dance by Anna
Marie Eck, Darlene Brophy, Bar
bara Frances James, and various
routines featuring Ronnie Owens,
Jerry Ruth Wlckersham. Jancy
Mcador and Judy James.
Joining several of the above
mentioned girls In a variety of
snappy choral routines are Ther

A group of young ladles from
Klamath Falls will model the new

at the 79th Annual meeting of the
American Forestry - Association
which will be held here Septem
ber 6 through 9.
An afternoon panel on Septem
ber 6 op water resources will in
clude Stuart Moir, forest counsel,
Western ' Forestry and Conserva
tion Association, Portland moder
ator, and Lyle F. Watts, retired
chief of the U. S. Forest Service
and chairman of the Oregon Water
Resources Committee: Paul B. Mc-
Kee, president, Pacific Power and
Light Company, Portland, and
Judge Robert W. Sawyer, retired
publisher of the Bend Bulletin. 1
Following the panel will be a
discussion of the Keep Oregon
Green programs by Albert K. Weis-
endanger, executive secretary of i
the. Keep Oregon Green Association
and a talk by Marshall N. Dana, as
sistant to tha president of the
United States National Bank of
Portland, on multiple-use planning.
The following three days of the
convention will be devoted to
field trips. The field trip Septem- j
ber 7 will be to'Longvtew, Wash-1
luglon. Stops are scheduled at the
Longvlew Fibre Company, the
Long-Bell plant and the Weyer
haeuser Timber Company plant, i
September 8 will be devoted to i
a trip up the scenic Columbia
River Highway on the Oregon side,
while an all-day trip to the Clatsop
and Columbia County tree farms
of Crown Zellerbach Corporation
will climax the meeting on Sep
tember 9.
